She served on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ® and arrived at a planning meeting with a heavy burden on her heart. She had recently counseled several Crusade staff couples whose marriages were crumbling, and she saw the devastating affect those troubled relationships had on their outreach. “We’ve got to do something to help the marriages and families of our staff,” she told the group. Then she laid her head down on the table and sobbed. Perhaps it took the tears of this single staff woman to get something done. The vision and passion God gave to Ney, along with David and Sande Sunde, was sent to the US Congress on the Family. That conference led them to create a “Marriage Preparation and Family Emphasis” ministry to train Campus Crusade engaged couples how to build solid marriages according to God’s blueprints for the family. The first pre-marriage event drew 21 couples. Little did they know what God would do in the next 40 years! Since the birth of FamilyLife®, it has grown to be a multi-faceted ministry in 110 countries. Over the past 40 years, 3 million people have attended live FamilyLife events; 102,016 people have let FamilyLife know they made a first time decision for Christ; 1.5 million dozen sets of Resurrection Eggs have been distributed to share the details of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection with children; 677,901 people have gone through The Art of Marriage®; 188,216 men have gone through the Stepping Up video study; and FamilyLife Today Radio is heard on 3,000 outlets with 9 million listens each week; and FamilyLife Blended® radio broadcast is now on 450 outlets! We are truly blessed to be able to serve together “with you” through CRU and FamilyLife. Because you partner with us, you are helping touch and train others to take God’s message of salvation to marriages, junior high, high school, and college campuses, athletes, military personnel, and many others here in the US and around the world who need to hear the gospel message that offers hope and salvation! Thank you for praying for me as I served as a workshop trainer for another Cru New Staff Orientation. 227 individuals were commissioned into service with Cru in their respective ministries. You are part of sending these Christ-followers all over the world. We thank the Lord for His call on their lives, and we ask you to pray for them as they step deeper into the spiritual battle, and lead others to Christ through evangelism and discipleship.
