NSPA Demilitarization, Dismantling, Disposal (D3) ServicesOver the past decade there has been a growing public concern about environmental management. The military is not exempt from these considerations, particularly in the field of the demilitarization of equipment. NSPA, thanks to professional experience and expertise, aims to be the benchmark in the field of demilitarization of military equipment.

Demilitarization, Dismantling and Disposal (D3) ServicesThe Demilitarization, Dismantling & Disposal (D3) Support Partnership (SP) was established in January 2013 in accordance with the NSPO Charter to respond to the request of NATO Member Nations, to provide D3 services for systems and equipment currently in service in their Forces.

MissionThe aim of D3 services is to process excess material and equipment requiring disposal in the most cost-effective manner consistent with adequate security, environmental protection and safety. These services include the processing of military items, defence articles, and defence systems which are owned, procured by or under the control of, national armed

forces or defence agencies. NSPA’s D3 services will demilitarize the equipment; preclude unauthorized use; render innocuous that material and equipment which is dangerous; and protect national interests, whilst conforming to security requirements.

D3 and environmental protection – two sides of the same coin.D3 activities undertaken in a responsible way will: limit the proliferation of harmful chemical elements into the atmosphere; remove potentially dangerous systems from circulation; free up storage space in national depots and maximize savings The aim of D3 services is to process excess material and equipment requiring disposal in the most cost-effective manner consistent with adequate security, environmental protection and safety.

NSPA’s D3 Support Partnership is recognized as NATO Smart Defence Initiative (NATO Smart Defence Project 1.22)

WHAT ? - Demilitarization, Dismantling and Disposal (D3) ServicesThe D3SP is responsible for the demilitarization, dismantling and disposal of Aircrafts, Ships, Vehicles, surplus materials and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)

HOW ? – R3 ServicesMany of the items and equipment identified above contain material and metals that have a high re-sale or scrap value, or may be recycled back into the military system. NSPA also offers an internet auction application that sells re-furbished equipment to commercial contractors.
