"Now you are the Body of Christ , and individually members of it." 1 Corinthians 12:27

OUR VISION AND MISSION

We, the members of First Presbyterian Church, are disciples of the risen Christ and members of his universal

Body, who are empowered by God’s Spirit to WORSHIP God with joy and thanksgiving; PROCLAIM the

Gospel through word and deed; TEACH the message of God’s love in Christ; SHARE God’s love for all

people by reaching out in hospitality, ministry and mission; WORK together in harmonious unity as a loving

and caring people; and to SERVE one another and others beyond our fellowship in the name of Jesus Christ.

OUR VALUES

The values we cherish to enable us to accomplish our vision and mission are the fruit of God’s Spirit:

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

WELCOME TO FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH May you feel God's presence, may the message be a blessing in your life,

OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY

VISITORS and GUESTS. We are glad you are with us today and we welcome you as our guest.

Please fill out the Friendship Pad you find on the pew seat. Join us again as we worship God.

WEE WORSHIP ACTIVITY BAGS for children are available in a basket on a table in the

narthex. Please return the bags to the basket after worship.

The FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY are given to the Glory of God and in memory of

Ruth Clyburn by Max Clyburn and the Robert M. Clyburn family.

DAY of PENTECOST. Today, on the 50th day after Easter the apostles were praying together

and the Holy Spirit descended on them. Each received the “gift of tongues” – the ability to speak in

other foreign languages – and immediately began to preach about Jesus Christ to Jewish people

from all over the world who flocked to Jerusalem for the Feast of Shavuot. Christian Pentecost

celebrates the power of the Holy Spirit and also marks the birth of the Christian Church.

MEN'S PRAYER BREAKFAST. For those interested in a short time of Bible study and

fellowship before starting the day or heading to work. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday,

June 5th beginning just before 7:00am in the Fellowship Hall. See you there!

The PRAYER CHAIN MINISTRY is available for your prayer requests for church members,

friends and family. Please ask the person’s permission before adding a request. Email Donna

Connors at [email protected]. If you do not email, call Donna at 803-804-6166. Also,

if you would like to receive prayer chain requests contact Donna.

HOPE IN LANCASTER. Our congregation is asked to support HOPE in June. Monetary

donations and "unexpired", nonperishable food items are welcomed. Items needed include: canned

goods (beef/tuna/chicken/milk/cream soups/tomatoes), crackers, grits and mayonnaise. Please

place all food items in the wooden box located inside the back entrance of the church. Thanks!

"SAINTS ALIVE". For members of our church family who are sixty years of age and older: We

are reviving the occasional excursions that are funded in part by the Maude Moore Trust. This

Trust was created for the benefit of and mission to members of the church family who are sixty or

older. Mark your calendar for our first trip to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont,

NC on Tuesday, June 27th. Plan to leave from the Church at 9:00am to enjoy the gardens and

lunch together. A signup sheet is on the table outside the church office. It promises to be a day of

good fellowship, beauty, and fun!

PROVIDENCE PRESBYTERY DENTAL TRIP to Honduras will be this August. To ensure

this mission is successful, we are asked to help provide toothbrushes for adults and children along

with small tubes of toothpaste. If you would like to support this mission, please place your

contributions in the basket on the table outside the church office. Thanks.

THESE DAYS are available in the narthex and on the console at the back door entrance. These

daily devotional guides are a helpful way to worship God.
