I WAS meditating recently to find out from God what will be our theme for 2013. There were certain challenges I saw in 2012 that I was asking God to completely eradicate in the next. God answered and said, "All covenanted ministries (whether individual or church) will hit major storm in their 3rd year. If the ministry escapes that by grace, a greater storm will come against it in its 6th year. If the ministry equally escapes the double storm, it will then qualify for the blessings of the 7th year”. For us in Everlasting Father's Assembly, there were storms that we went through at three years. To the glory of God, we escape them all. Also at six years, thank God for all the astounding accomplishments that we have enjoyed, we also escaped double storms. Glory be to God! So I asked God, since we have escaped the sixth year, what is the blessing of the seventh year? He took me back to the creation of the world. He said, ‘What did the bible says I did on the seventh day’? And I said that You rested from Your labours. So, God said "2013 is your year of My rest". Note that it is the God's rest, not our kind of rest. The bible says that God does not sleep nor slumber (Ps. 121:4). So it's not a rest of sleep. Neither is it of folding of hands. It is a rest from excessive labours and entering into excessive favours. The seventh day was a time when God stopped creating on this earth, but switched to watching over what He has created. In 2013, God will help us to look after what He has created for us and through us. We will supervise and oversee machinery that will run itself. Every system that God has helped us to create will begin to work for us. Grace will supersede haste. There was a time when the Israelites were fighting Canaan, the Israelites were outnumbered. So God began to use constellations to fight for them (Judges 5:20). God will assign hosts of heaven to work for us in 2013 . By Pastor Samuel Obafaiye FOR INDIVIDUALS FOR NIGERIA: INTERNATIONAL: : 1. Jesus went further to say that He is Resurrection and Life, that those that believe in Him, though if they die, yet they shall live and those that are alive and believe in Him will not die (John 11: 25-26). All those who believe in Christ have been translated from death unto life; from the kingdom of darkness unto the kingdom of light; from slavery unto sonship and from condemnation unto justification (Col. 1:13; 2 Pet. 2:9). A lot of Christian however still lives their lives as ‘slaves’ because of their inadequate knowledge of who they really are (Gal. 4:1). The bible tells us of a man called Mephibosheth who was subjugated by his grandfather’s servant – Ziba. It took the intervention of David to restore him (2 Sam. 9:1-11). Hebrews 10:38. Romans 1:17. Galatians 3:11. Where else in the Bible can we find a line as important as this repeated four times word for word? Man, over several generations have devised various means to please the LIVING GOD only to end up being disappointed. The answer to man’s failure can be summarised in one single word “FAITHLESSNESS”. Man’s failure to please GOD isn’t as a result of lack of efforts or good intentions to please GOD but due to the major flaw of FAITHLESSNESS. There are only two groups of people this world has ever witness and shall continue to harbour: Group One “People with absolute faith in God.” And Group Two “People with no faith in God.” 2 Thessalonians 3:2 (....for not all men have faith). At every Church programme anywhere in God’s universe, there are these two groups of people sat listening to / preaching GOD’s word whilst also engaging in one activity or the other for GOD. Ephesians 2: 8-9 “For by grace ye are saved through faith, not of yourselves, it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Man cannot take the credit for his salvation. Man wants to earn his salvation or at the very least contribute to it. That is intolerable by GOD. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. A natural man who isn’t a believer in GOD will struggle to make any sense out of this wonderful verse of the Scriptures. He sees this verse a “mismatch.” To him, when something is being hoped then at that point in time, it cannot be substantiated. His understanding of the word HOPE cannot accommodate the word “substance” simultaneously. In fact, one is the absence of the other. When he thinks of evidence, he thinks of hard core physical proofs that validate a fact. You can never bring him to terms of having an evidence of things that cannot be seen and appreciated by the physical eye. FAITH believes GOD in spite of the absence of physical evidence and has an assurance in hope, not when it is done or achieved. Why does faith matters so much to GOD? Why is it that important to GOD? What is in FAITH that makes it such a huge requirement for any man to please GOD? The only reason why FAITH is so important is because GOD cannot be seen by human eye and it takes faith to relate with HIM. The Christian race is an open book examination because the secret to being GOD’s friend is already revealed in Hebrews 11:6. GOD is never impressed by a life that doesn’t have faith in HIM. The secret of pleasing GOD is so simplified in the single element of FAITH so man can concentrate on one thing in order to please HIM. GOD has not given man a list of one thousand & one things he must do to please HIM. Only one thing, FAITH! When for example a believer thinks of making Heaven, what easily comes to mind is GOD. He thinks in terms of the solution being between him and GOD. What Hebrews 11:6 tells is that the bid to please GOD lies between man and faith, a key element that cannot be ignored. If you want to please me, make sure you have FAITH. If faith is missing, you don’t have a chance. – Genesis 15: 1-6 - Abraham pointed out to GOD the consequences and the potential implications of him remaining barren. Also, he rightly acknowledged how the Sovereign LORD had blessed him but cautioned that this would all amount to nothing if Eliezer ended up inheriting all that GOD has given him. Verse 6: God dispelled such fears and told Abraham that was not going to happen. God took him outside to show Abraham the stars and promised that his children were going to be that much. Abraham’s response to that was phenomenon “FAITH.” Verse 6: And Abraham Believed GOD, and counted it unto him as Righteousness. Abraham dropped his analysis. Going forward from that day, Abraham dropped those fears. He stopped having them. There was no repeat of that occurrence AGAIN. God expects believers to have a change of mind regarding their issues in the light of HIS promises detailed in the Holy Scriptures. That is faith in GOD. 2). - Hebrew 11: 17-19: Abraham had jumped into a conclusion that he losing a child was not a catastrophic end because GOD has the capabilities and wherewithal to RAISE the dead child that was already slaughtered. What Kind of Gratitude Do You Show God?

A

The Seven Plus One different types of ‘Thank You’The Encouragement ‘Thank You’ -

The Contractual ‘Thank You’ -

The Politeness ‘Thank You’ -

The Unsolicited Favour ‘Thank You’ -

The Solicited Favour ‘Thank You’ -

The Negative ‘Thank You’ -

The Danger-Terror ‘Thank You’ -

gratitude, or ‘Thank you’ is an expression in response to the perceived benefit of an act, situation or event. It is rampant in society; can be a subtle indicator or strong evidence of the state

of relationships, but does not always express the same thing. Each time gratitude is expressed there is a narrative behind that expression. There is a reason or a purpose. Before asking you how and why you say ‘Thank You’ to God I want to explain the seven plus one different kinds of gratitude I have come across in meditation. The different types of thanks:

This type of gratitude is an advance or belated expression of inducement, persuasion or encouragement. The sort of encouragement to perhaps nudge a person to voluntarily fill out a questionnaire or form to help somebody else, or stop at the red traffic light to avoid mishaps. It can also be a form of inducement to refrain from something potentially undesirable thus indirectly benefiting others. A polite ‘Thank you for not smoking’ can be an example.

The contractual ‘Thank You’ is an expression of mutual agreement or understanding. An expression of satisfaction between parties similar to the contentment of an employee who just got paid for work done. It is the satisfaction of discovering you just received exactly what was promised by the retailer you handed your hard earned money over to; and there was no horse-meat in your beef lasagne. The terms of a deal have been adhered to, and all parties are satisfied. The contractual ‘Thank you’ is not mandatory, but there is understandable relief, perhaps contentment involved.

The sort of gratitude shown by a glad person when they receive something they deserve. Gratitude shown for recognition, or acknowledgement of hard work or achievement. A winner of an Oscar of Bafta award may say something like ‘This would not have been possible without my fans, director, friends and family. I thank you for your support’ .

This is a straightforward expression of gratitude for a help, a favour, or a good act not asked for, expected or demanded. The unsolicited favour may or may not be deserved but it had not been requested, and there may elicit a feeling of surprise and sense of relief. Examples can be varied: someone opening the door, holding the elevator, unexpectedly paying a bill, getting you out of trouble, and so on. The gratitude is warm, genuine, and well deserved. Most people, I suspect, have a recollection of an unsolicited act of kindness they have had to be grateful for.

Gratitude following the fulfilment of a requested favour is deserved and heart warming relief. It is an expression of satisfaction, an uplifting answer to an incessant pleading or fervent prayer. It is often a reinforcement of fraternity between well acquainted persons. It may turn an acquaintance into friendship, and a mere friendship into something yet deeper. Anyone who has declared a testimony after answers to their prayer have an idea of the feeling that goes with this kind of gratitude, influenced by the gravity of their testimony.

The negative ‘Thank You’ can be very easy to recognise. The intention may not be to express a feeling of grateful appreciation of approval or contentment. It is an ironical gratitude, and is a wonderful indicator of the quality of a relationship. Examples may be nuanced in various clever ways but the following are good illustrations: “Thank you for your application but I am sorry to inform you that.....” or “Thank you for not interrupting......” or “Thank you for not messing it up......” or “Something bad has happened thanks to this person.... ”

This is another kind of negative gratitude, where the person expressing the thanks expresses their ‘Thank You’ in fear, terror and difficulty. There is nothing polite, encouraging or hopeful, and they are not grateful, pleased or satisfied. The sayer of thanks feel they have to express gratitude to avert future suffering from the person terrifying them. It is a hostage situation ‘Thank You’ . I pray you will never experience or have to say such.READ THE FULL VERSION OF THIS SERMON AT - http://rccgleeds.org.uk/index.php/news.htmlExcerpts of a sermon delivered by Doctor Abayomi Sanusi on 17th March, 2013 at RCCG Everlasting Father’s Arena, York.
