About Server-less On-Demand Print

When Server-less On-Demand Print is enabled, print jobs sent from a computer can be temporarily stored on the machine. Users can request the print instruction on the machine. No server is required to store these print jobs. Even though the machine storing your job is occupied, you can print from another available machine. As this feature enables you to confirm a print job before printing, you can reduce unnecessary printing.

For more information, refer to "Changing the Print Settings" (P.17).

Checking Printed JobsPrinted jobs or transferring/transferred jobs are displayed on the [Print from History] screen. You can select a job to reprint on this screen. When printing completed jobs, this can prevent you from sending the same print job from a computer again.

For more information, refer to "Reusing Printed Jobs" (P.19).

Notes and Restrictions

Notes and Restrictions

This section describes the notes and restrictions to observe when using Server-less On-Demand Print.

Notes and Restrictions on the Use of the MachineWhen Server-less On-Demand Print is enabled, it takes a few seconds longer than usual for a machine to warm up.

Match the default language displayed on the screen of your machine with those of remote machines.

Match the clock time on your machine with those on remote machines. If those times differ, job information may not be retrieved properly.

As there are different types of IDs that can be registered on the machine such as User IDs and card numbers, the same text string ID may exist for both User ID and card number. In this case, print jobs stored by the both users may be displayed when a smart card is used for logging in to the machine. When Server-less On-Demand Print is enabled and if a smart card is used for local authentication, do not assign the same string ID to different users even though their ID types are different.

When remote authentication is enabled with Server-less On-Demand Print, the setting made under [Properties] > [Connectivity] > [Protocols] > [LDAP] > [LDAP Authorization Access] in CentreWare Internet Services will be invalid.

When you access remote server with Version 2.0 or Version 4.0 (old version) web browser to use the services other than this feature, specify Version 2.0 or Version 4.0 as the protocol type of URL for [Server Setup] of [Web Applications Service Setup]. This setting takes precedence of the value [V5] specified for [Web Applications Version] of [Web Browser Setup].Example) When you specify Version 2.0 as web applications version:- http-v2://www.example.com- http-v2://192.0.2.1 (IPv4)- http-v2://[2001:DB8::1234] (IPv6)- https-v2://www.example.com- https-v2://192.0.2.1 (IPv4)- https-v2://[2001:DB8::1234] (IPv6)

Note • When you specify Version 4.0, please read [v2] as [v4].

Notes and Restrictions on the Use of the Print FeatureFor Server-less On-Demand Print, each job is sent independently even when you send multiple print requests in one instruction. Therefore, it may take longer period of time to print than usual. If the machine receives a fax job while multiple print jobs are being printed, the fax job is output during the print jobs in progress. Change the settings if you want to prevent print jobs from being interrupted by a fax job.

Printing or deleting job may be suspended due to Auto Clear. In this case, set longer time than current setting or select [Off] for [Auto Clear] under [System Settings] > [Common Service Settings] > [Machine Clock / Timers] on the [Tools] screen.

Just like general print jobs, you can process jobs being printed on the [Active Jobs] tab of the [Job Status] screen from a remote machine. Be careful not to delete or cancel these jobs from the remote machine.

Page 28: Server-less On-Demand Print User Guideonlinesupport.fujixerox.com/driver_downloads/privateprint_ug_eng.pdf · About Server-less On-Demand Print 4 Changing Print Settings Before printing

Notes and Restrictions

28

If you request print instructions from different machines at the same time, it may take longer time before start printing.

If you request a print instruction for jobs stored on different machines at a time, the jobs may not be printed in the same order as they appear on the screen.

The interrupting operation is not available for Server-less On-Demand Print.

A banner sheet cannot be printed out in a job printed with the conventional Private Charge Print feature. For Server-less On-Demand Print, however, a banner sheet can be printed out if set to be enabled.

A job printed with Server-less On-Demand Print is shown as "Web Application Print" on a Job History Report.

[Delete Job After Print Default Settings] is unavailable for this feature. For information on how to delete the completed jobs, refer to "Use Print from History" (P.9).

Number of Viewable Print JobsYou can view up to 99 print jobs per machine in the job list on each of the [Private Charge Print] screen and the [Print from History] screen*. If exceeding 99 in any of machines, jobs that come after the 99th job will not be displayed for that machine.*: [Print from History] screen is displayed when you set [Use Print from History] to [yes] in the [Admin Settings]

screen.

When the number of retrieved jobs reaches the maximum of 495, the remaining jobs will not be displayed.

Note • The displayed jobs vary depending on the setting of [Job Display Order].
