It has been great to have all our children and their families with us this week.
We are all proud of our children, as we should be, but I have to brag on one of my
children, Lydia.
A few years ago Lydia joined “Anytime Fitness” to lose weight and to help
refocus her life. Last week she was named the “Anytime Fitness Member Success
Story of the Year”. According to Lydia, Anytime Fitness has about 6,000 gyms in all
50 States and 20 foreign countries. Each club is given the opportunity to submit suc-
cess stories. Lydia was chosen from all the Anytime Fitness gyms in the world as the
Success Story of the Year. Wow!!! In September she is being flown to Lake Placid,
New York to receive her recognition.
Obviously Lydia has dedicated a lot of time working out. She has lost a lot of
weight and added a lot of muscle. She participates in grueling competitive events in
addition to her daily workouts. It has not been easy, even though she has the
“Schlosser advantage”.
We are God’s children. I am confident that He is proud of us. I started pon-
dering, what is it that would make God want to brag about us? I think the same ele-
ments are present: it takes dedication, losing a lot of weight, gaining muscle, and
willing to endure grueling experiences. Notice how God bragged on Job: 8 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no
one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and
shuns evil.” Job 1:8
Those who endure grueling experiences appear to have special honor.
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had
been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. Revelation 6:9
God has not called us as spectators, but as faithful workers in the Kingdom.
Christianity is not easy even though we have the “Spirit advantage”. But the rewards
are out of this world! Better than a trip to NY.
Just Pondering
Paul’s Ponders
