We make thousands of financial decisions: purchases, bill paying, deposits, ATM, investing; coupon clipping; credit cards; checks . . . We view the world differently as a Christian. We see: I. The Difference between Consumption and Contentment. Vv.6-8 Basis: Contentment is based on God’s grace. V.8 Results: Contentment results in giving that is generous. V.6 Contentment results in giving that is cheerful. V.7 Application: Give, generously and cheerfully. See also: Phil. 4:11; 1 Tim. 6:8 II. The Difference Between Positive Thinking and Faith. Vv.10-11 Basis: Faith is based on God’s supply. V.10 Results: Faith results in God increasing your harvest. V.10b Faith results in God making you rich in HIS ways. V.11 Application: Give, God meets your needs. See also: Heb. 11:6 III. The Difference Between Greed and Giving. Vv.12-15 Basis: Giving is based on God’s gift. V.15 Results: Giving results in meeting other’s needs. V.12 Giving results in releasing spiritual power in prayer. V.14 Application: Give, you have received so much. See also: Rom. 8:14; 1 Tim. 6:10 Greed is a normal part of our sinful nature. God wants to bring about a divine change! Do we live as if everything belongs to God or to us? Psalm 24:1 Will I use possession for my will for His will?
