To reduce operational costs within the IT infrastructure a top priority for achieving this saving was to replace eight disparate backup solutions, spanning four hundred locations, with one centrally managed data management platform. The strategy had to reduce costs, incorporate backup and archiving, while maintaining compliance and continuity across a range of critical applications including Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL and Oracle. SOLUTION CommVault Simpana 10 was chosen as the data management platform to implement as it goes beyond traditional backup software by incorporating discovery, backup, archival, search and compliance into a single OnePass agent and console, thus significantly reducing complexity and overheads of multiple tools and agents. Having had an older version of CommVault Simpana at one of the regional sites, SFRS staff were already aware of the benefits of the software but needed help in architecting the most efficient design for their business. Seric designed the solution based on a new dedicated domain for the new organisation and migrated the data to the new domain, and implemented new retention policies, while maintaining access to emergency information. OUTCOME There were many business benefits from the implementation. The CommVault Simpana 10 software dramatically reduced management overhead on the SFRS ICT team. The Seric consultancy and implementation allowed the internal team to be put to use on other key projects. Some highlights of the solution are: - Near instantaneous recovery of email for the 9,000 users - Efficient implementation of the 21 year storage, recovery and compliance search policy - Slashed time of Search and Compliance requests from days to seconds - Immediate cost savings, achieving the government mandate Scottish Fire and Rescue Services Data Management with Seric PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS STORAGE AND INTEGRATED SYSTEMS DATA MANAGMENT SOCIAL BUSINESS AND COLLABORATION IT SECURITY It is a great benefit to have confidence and trust in our supplier. Commvault Simpana 10

BRIEFThe amalgamation of the 8 Scottish Fire and Rescue Services into a single national service was mandated by the Scottish Government to reduce operational costs and brought about many management changes.

SOLUTIONCommVault Simpana 10 was chosen as the data management platform to implement as it goes beyond traditional backup software by incorporating discovery, backup, archival, search and compliance into a single OnePass agent and console, thus significantly reducing complexity and overheads of multiple tools and agents.

Having had an older version of CommVault Simpana at one of the regional sites, SFRS sta were already aware of the benefits of the software but needed help in architecting the most ecient design for their business. Seric designed the solution based on a new dedicated domain for the new organisation and migrated the data to the new domain, and implemented new retention policies, while maintaining access to emergency information.

OUTCOMEThere were many business benefits from the implementation. The CommVault Simpana 10 software dramatically reduced management overhead on the SFRS ICT team. The Seric consultancy and implementation allowed the internal team to be put to use on other key projects. Some highlights of the solution are:

- Near instantaneous recovery of email for the 9,000 users

- Ecient implementation of the 21 year storage, recovery and compliance search policy

- Slashed time of Search and Compliance requests from days to seconds

- Immediate cost savings, achieving the government mandate
