About Us The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Americans, Serbs and their friends through planned projects, social and humanitarian activities in order to develop and foster better society for future generations and provide aid for underprivileged families in need. Although there are many humanitarian organizations and associations, help often doesn't reach the most jeopardized. Due to unnecessary administration, missing information and slow decision making, the delivery of aid arrives too late to the final consumers, or not at all. It is a sad and embarrassing, but true fact that more than 18.000 children daily die around the world because of starvation and malnutrition. There, among us, the blind and deaf. We are witnesses of the bad demographic situation of our nation, decreasing natality, increasing number of singles, abortions, accelerated aging of

Ambitions

Our mission The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations. Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid. Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty. How do we define “terrible poverty”? Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living. Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from social-dependable government programs. Indirectly, we want to affect on birth rate of Serbian people that has been in great decline in last 20 years. What are our long term goals? • family is ready to support itself daily and

manage to pay all required expenses and bills;

• their children are encouraged to continue with school and raising their own family;

• our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families;

• our organization is satisfied with the results; • family is ready in the future to become our

donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help.

Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.

SFS IN THE BRANIČEVO COUNTY

Charity organization Serbs for Serbs conducted on Tuesday, 8th of November, on the feast of Saint Demetrius, its first charity action in eastern Serbia, in the Braničevo county. We visited a four-member family Milošević from the village Sirakovo in the municipality Veliko Gradište. We provided automatic water supply pump, and the material for bringing the water into the house and equiping the bathroom in the amount of 62,010 dinars. After finding about the difficult situation of this family from a newspaper article, we decided to visit the family. A single mother Lidija Milošević lost her job after an unsuccessful privatization. She had to asume responsibility for her mentally ill mother and two children. Although the state institutions and other inhabitants of the village are acquainted with their situation, the family lives on the edge of existence, without the hope of anyone's help.

It made us even more sad, bearing in mind the luxury of the houses in that and neighboring villages, whose owners are mostly abroad.

During our first visit to the municipality of Veliko Gradište in the beginning of September, Lidija told us that they need a water supply pump and the material for bringing the water into the house and equiping the bathroom. A few weeks later we were in the Braničevo county again, and provided the material help they needed.

The family managed to buy the tiles and material for the Rigips walls in the amount of 150 EUR. We provided the remaining material. The water pump will bring them the water into the house, and the irrigation of the garden, which should make the life and existence of this family easier. Our organization provided 60,000 dinars for that cause, and the store Dicić Promet from Veliko Gradište gave us a discount of 2,010 dinars, and we use this opportunity to thank them again. The largest

part of the material was delivered on the same day, and the rest of the material should be delivered in the next few days. We would like to emphasize that the owner of the Dicić Promet provided the transportation to Sirakovo (which is 18km away from Veliko Gradište) free of charge, and visited the family together with the representative of SfS.

He used the opportunity to give an advice to the family related to the conducting of construction works which should begin soon. A friend of the family will work for free. After meeting the Milošević family we are free to say that we are encouraged by the behaviour of the humble single mother, who is not losing her strength and will to fight for the better life of her children, which deserves any kind of support and help. We were also encouraged during our conversation with Marko (15), who is determined to remain in his village after finishing the highschool, establish a family and engage in agriculture. We hope that the future actions in this area will raise the awareness of our people in relation to the trouble of their compatriots, and the need to give them fraternal love and support. We also use the opportunity to talk about the empty Serbian houses (which are a warning to all of us) from the old part of the Sirakovo village, in which the Marković family lives alone, and to wish Marko fulfils his intention and become an example to other boys and girls in similar situation...

DELIVERED HELP TO THE RAŠKA AREA

A four-member team of the charity organization Serbs for Serbs from Belgrade visited on 19th and 20th of November three families in the Raška area. We got acquainted with the problems of the family Ješić (Jabuka, Prijepolje), we bought bathroom equipment to the Šalipur family (Priboj), and freezer, three-seater bed, and the construction material for the reconstruction of the barn to the Dimitrijević family (Jasenovo, Nova Varoš). In the action we provided:

• bathroom equipment – 26,300 dinars • freezer – 22,000 dinars • three-seater bed – 16,000 dinars • construction material for the reconstruction

of the barn – 17,000 dinars • transportation costs – 3,000 dinars • travel costs – 6, 910 dinars.

On Saturday afternoon we arrived to the Žiča monastery. After short visit, we continued to the monastery ðurñevi Stupovi. A prior of the monastery Gerasim welcomed us like a true host. We decided to spend the night in Nova Varoš, and early in the morning headed to Prijepolje, where we attended the liturgy in the Mileševa monastery. The first satelite signal between Europe and North America contained the picture of the White angel from Mileševa. We continued towards the Montenegro border line, to the settlement Jabuka, where we visited the Ješić family. It consists of the unemployed parent Nenad and Danijela, and the children: Milovan (13), Miljan (11), Srñan (7), Aleksandar (4), Danka (2) and Darko (one-

month old). The family house collapsed in 2006, and the family has been living in the barrack, which is a part of the refugee center. The bigest problem they have faced recently was the electricity switched off, so they can't use the calorifier.

The action of providing a new house for the family is ongoing, and the house has already been found. The value of the house is 9,000 EUR. The social care director is trying to provide the money for the house, which would belong to the municipality, and the Ješić could be able to use it. The administration is not helping them. After the Divac foundation provided the apartments to the refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ješić family is the only one left in the barrack. They receive a children allowance in the amount of 8,000 dinars for four children, and the father is working for a wage. The children live in bad conditions, and they are getting sick. We promised to try to help them to buy a house, and latter equip it and buy domestic animals.

We encountered a church dedicated to Saint Elijah, which was consecrated this summer. In the center of Priboj we visited the church of the Ressurection of Christ. We soon went to visit the Šalipur family, to whom we bought a freezer in the last action. This time we provided material for equiping the bathroom, in the amount of 26,300 dinars. We agreed with father Ljuba to provide help for the house insulation, to reduce the moisture in the walls.

We visited the monastery of Saint Nicholas and the church od Saint Elijah. After that we went to the village Jasenovo in the Nova Varoš municipality, the home of the Dimitrijević family. In the previous action we agreed to get them a freezer, three-seater bed and the construction material for reconstruction of the barn, in the total amount of 58,000 dinars. The biggest problem to the family is the lack of water in the house, so they must

bring it from the spring 200 meters away from the house. We agreed to get them a pump and a hose to get the water into the house, and then a material for the bathroom and domestic animals.

We were satisfied with the action, and hoping that we made the life easier to these families.

With the faith in God, Darko Lojaničić

ADDITIONAL HELP FOR THE KOMATINA FAMILY

On the 17th of November, with the help of our friends from the Raška area, we continued the action of helping the Komatina family, who is living in the village Radaljica near Novi Pazar.

We spent 10,000 dinars for the rest of the bathroom tiles and other material for the bathroom, and additional 16,500 dinars were spent by our friends from Novi Pazar to buy 2 female lambs. The bathroom is now fully functional. Since they already have a cow and five sheep, we firmly believe that two additional sheep will help them to normalize their funding. We owe special thank for the realization of this action to our friend Goran Petrović, and Miloš Starovlah from the village Šaronje. We intended to spend the rest of the money from the previous action, 25,540 dinars, for paying the tax to the

estate, but the debt increased to 80,000 dinars, so we agreed with the family to get them each time we go there several animals to grow, so they could earn and pay the debt themselves.

The family is no longer forced to ask for charity from the brotherhood of the monastery ðurñevi Stupovi, and the hope remains that after each visit, things will get better. We said to Mrs. Radmila that she could thank us if the Komatina family gets another member. We agreed to visit them again as soon as we can, and according to the announcements of our donors, that could happen soon.

No surrender! For healthy family – for healthy Serbia!

NEW VISIT AND HELP TO VRŠAC

On Sunday, November 20th, a four-member family of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs from Belgrade and Novi Sad, visited and helped families Medić and Vasić from Vršac. The help we delivered consisted of clothing, footwear, books, toys, school equipment, bathroom equipment, 6 chairs, paying the debt in the bakery and buying elementary groceries. A two-member team from Novi Sad joined a two-member team from Belgrade, due to the amount of staff. We arrived at the Medić family first, and the army of children that welcomed us, helped us to get the things out of the car.

We bought chairs (7.200 dinars), equipment for the bathroom (7.100 dinars), payed the debt in the bakery (8.000 dinars), and bought some groceries (in

the amount of 22.000 dinars). After saying goodbye to the family, we hurried to witness the local football derby. The youngest member of the Vasić family, Mladen, played in the derby. He managed to lessen the defeat of his team by scoring a goal.

We bought clothing, footwear, toys and books to the Vasić family. We could see that the house appliances are beginning to break down. The refridgerator, washing machine, beds, chandelier are in bad condition, everything except the stove we delivered in the last action. All the members of this family like to read a lot, so we call upon the people of good will to join us in the action of collecting the books. We said goodbye to the Vasić family, in the hope to be able to help them more in the next action.

With the faith in family and better life, Mladen Matijašević

ANOTHER SUCESFULLY FINISHED PROJECT!

Thanks to a number of donors, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs, managed to finish second in a row big charity action in the Republic of Srpska. After collecting 2,800 EUR which we sent for the tractor connections to Miladin Ekmečić, we went to Prebilovce to visit the honest and hard-working family once again. Miladin and Sojka were preparing for the autumn sowing of garlic, and the oldest son was helping them. He looks like his father, and he is helping and taking care of everything, although he is studying on a faculty. The other children are very good pupils. They are all doing quite fine. The tractor has undergone jubilee 100 working hours.

Miladin has also bought a tiller, a plow and a trailer. He paid 6,540 KM for those things. He added his money and also bought a hook he needed for 250 KM. This marked the completion of the most necesarry equipment for the serious engaging in agriculture, in order to gain a higher income.

Miladin told us that his vegetable yield was better this year, but the prices were low due to a Escherichia epidemic in Europe, so he didn't make significant profit. However, he is satisfied and optimistic. Miladin has suceeded to renew some things around the house, and he has big plans. There is a lot of work ahead of them, but for the hard-working family, such as the Ekmečić's, it is not a problem.

We said goodbye to the family, happy that we managed to help them, and proud to be a part of the organization which justifies its existence, and illustrates how it looks like when the Serbs work together.

The money was spent for the: translation of the documents for the house and the estate which we bought for the family last year, building the barn and groceries. This is another help in a row to the humble and hard-working family, with the aim of providing them normal life and working conditions. NO SURRENDER! _____________________________________________
