A concert a day will carry your woes away.

Just what the doctor ordered — eight

months of ethereal, world-class music at

David P. Gardner Hall on the University

of Utah campus.

The bitter pill we swallow each day

when we open the paper or turn on the

news can make anyone heart-sick. But treatment

is in hand with 20 professional and more than 60

student performances, prescribed courtesy of the

School of Music.

And in these financially challenging times,

you need a cure that won’t kill you. Our student

performances cost less than a movie ticket; our

Sundays@7 faculty recital series is free; and our

Virtuoso Series, featuring internationally lauded

guest artists, is a fraction of the price

you’d pay in other cities.

So come take a guilt-free dose of

the world’s best medicine: an evening

of uplifting music.

Opera

Each spring, our vocal students collaborate to produce a fully staged opera in Kingsbury Hall. This year’s selection, Poulenc’s tragic lyric opera, Dialogues of the Carmelites, tells the story of a wealthy young heroine, Blanche de la Force, who enters an order of devout nuns seeking refuge, but instead faces her fears and masters her life as the French revolution unfolds. The powerful, highly emotional score deals with themes of political power and freedom, personal spirituality, redemption, and ultimate sacrifice.
