George Strait Is HereFor A Good Time

CD Hits Stores and Digital Outlets On September 6th The King of Country Music is releasing his 39th studio album, Here For A Good Time, on September 6th and there is one thing that’s perfectly clear - George Strait is hav-ing a really good time doing what he does best – making music. The Country Music Hall of Famer co-wrote seven of the album’s 11 tracks with his son Bubba and legendary songwriter Dean Dillon. Strait co-produced the album with his long-time friend and legendary producer Tony Brown. It was recorded at Shrimpboat Sound Studio in Key West, FL - the same studio where Strait recorded his last three award-winning albums. The title track “Here For A Good Time,” written by Strait, his son Bubba Strait and songwriter Dean Dillon, is Strait’s 89th career single and his second highest debut in his storied career on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This was his highest debuting single since “I Saw God Today” debuted Top 20 in 2008.

Strait may have penned the lyrics “I ain’t here for a long time, I’m here for a good time” in his current single but his amazing career says otherwise. With a career spanning more than 30 years, George Strait has the most number one singles of any artist in history including Elvis (57 to date inclusive of all charts). He has sold nearly 69 million records and with 33 different platinum or multi-platinum albums has the most RIAA platinum certifica-tions in country music and the third in all genres,

behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Strait was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Strait’s last CD Twang debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200 chart and the Top Country Albums chart making it the fourth time in Strait's career that a new release has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and the 13th time debuting at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart. Here For A Good Time is slated for release on September 6.

2012 GSTRC Friday, March 9th and Saturday, March 10th are the dates that George Strait has chosen for his 30th Anniversary George Strait Team Roping Classic at the San Anto-nio Rose Palace in San Antonio, TX. The GSTRC is the largest open roping in America with over $500,000 in cash and prizes available to the participants. David Key of Stephenville, TX and Jade Corkill

of Fallen, NV roped three steers in 15.62 seconds last year to win the event. They each collected $87,300 in cash winnings to go along with their new 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickups and 3-horse slant Strait Extreme trailers from Bruton Trailers in San Angelo, TX. George Strait Fan Club Members will get the first chance to purchase tickets for the

2012 event in an exclusive one-day sale through the George Strait website at www.georgestrait.com. Members will have to log into the Members Only section of the website using their Username and Pass-words when prompted, in order to purchase a maximum of 4 tickets per day, per mem-ber. Only one purchase per member will be allowed! Tickets for the 2012 GSTRC will be $20 each and pre-sales for members will begin at 9am Central Time, Sept. 26th and will be closed at 5pm or until sold out. If available, any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on the George Strait website at www.georgestrait.com at 9am, October 3rd. Anita’s Notes Welcome to the fall issue of Strait Talk. As we write this current issue, our minds are already thinking of cooler weather and next years Tour and Roping. We are in mid-August where temperatures are near, or above 100 daily. We suggest you stay indoors, pour a cool drink and turn on George Strait music. With that in mind, you are going to love the next George Strait CD “Here For A Good Time”. There are eleven songs, seven of them penned by George, Bubba and Dean Dillon including one called “I Will Always Remember You” that George wrote for his fans. I have many favorites and believe this CD will be another win-ner for George as the others have been over the past 30 years. We congratulate everyone involved with the project. Please find the story with the list of songs and the writers, elsewhere in the newsletter. I can’t wait to hear your reac-tion. Enjoy!! Here we go---the 30th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic is approach-ing. The dates are Friday, March 9th and Saturday, March 10th of 2012 at the San Antonio Rose Palace in San Antonio, TX. The 2011 winners, David Key from Stephenville, TX and Jade Corkil from Fallen, NV rode away with $174,000 between them in their beautiful Chevrolet Silverado Dually pickups from Cavendar Chevrolet in Boerne, TX pulling their 3-horse slant Strait Xtreme trailers from

Bruton Trailers in San Angelo, TX. The world’s very best ropers will be back in 2012 for another shot at the title, trucks, trailers and money. Tickets for the Team Roping have been a quick sellout for many years and 2012 will be no excep-tion. Fan Club Members will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets for the event before the general public. Please read the complete story about the Team Roping and ticket purchases else-where in the newsletter. If you are new to the GSTRC, and would like to see what it is all about, check out the George Strait website at www.georgestrait.com and read the old newsletter stories about it and check the photos in the photo gal-lery. It’s wonderful time with long days, but exciting results and memories. Come dressed comfortably from top to bottom. Be sure to check the weather before you come to see if you need a jacket. The weather can change during that part of the year. Be sure and bring your camera and a stadium seat cushion for long day on the bleacher seats. Food and drinks are sold throughout the event, and there are many vendors that sell their western style goods. We hope to see you there. The George Strait 2012 Tour is coming together nicely and we hope you will be able to attend at least one of the shows. Be sure and check back to the website at www.georgestrait.com for all the details about the tour. A major press release will be made in October announcing who will be touring with George in 2012, as well as all of the places he will be playing. We can tell you this….It will be a major Country Music Star, so keep checking back to the George Strait website for updates. We urge all fans to make sure that the Fan Club has your current email address as that is how we notify every-one of concert and fan club pre-sales. If we don’t have your current email address, you will not be notified. Remember that fan club pre-sales are held first before any sponsor or radio sta-tion pre-sales. Also, please remember to make sure your memberships are current. Expired member cannot purchase pre-sale tickets. Have you checked out the new mer-chandise items from the George Strait General Store? We have many great new items that we are very proud of. We

have included some of them in the news-letter for you to see. If you would like to purchase any of the items, you may do so through the General Store at www.georgestrait.com or by calling the office at 615-824-7176 before 2pm Mon-Fri. Remember orders are usually shipped by UPS the next business day after we receive them, unless we are out of stock, and then they are shipped as soon as they are back in stock. Please make sure that you include a physical address for all shipments as UPS cannot deliver to PO Boxes. Glassware is not shipped to Canada or overseas because the possibili-ty of breakage is much higher. Also, remember that the Holidays will be upon us before you know it, so we suggest if you see something you like, go ahead and get it.
