A graduate of The Ohio State University and East Carolina University, Joseph Lengieza has worked on historic vessels since 1996, and has sailed on FNL vessels since 1998. He oversees academics, enrollment, and logistics, and is the primary shore-based contact for Tall Ship Academy.

Captain David Goldman hails from Rochester, New York, where he earned his Eagle Scout. He is one of two primary captains for the U.S. Brig Niagara's summer programs, as well as the program captain for Tall Ship Academy. He has sailed extensively on the Atlantic, Caribbean, and on all five Great Lakes since 2003, and with FNL since 2008.

David Goldman

Captain William (Billy) Sabatini grew up in southeastern Massachusetts on Cape Cod, and so has been around water his entire life. A graduate of Tabor Academy and Maine Maritime Academy, Billy has worked in sail training since 1996, and with the Flagship Niagara League (FNL) since 2005. As Fleet Captain, he oversees all operations and programs on FNL operated vessels.

About the South Street Seaport Museum The South Street Seaport Museum, located in the heart of the historic Seaport district in NewYork City, preserves and interprets the history of New York as a great port city. Designated byCongress as America’s National Maritime Museum, the Museum houses exhibition galleriesand education spaces, working nineteenth century print shops, and an active fleet of historicvessels that all work to tell the story of “Where New York Begins.”

Enrollment in Tall Ship Academy is limited to 14 students. Admissions willbe made on a rolling basis. All students and parents will be interviewed to

ensure the student is capable of succeeding in a demanding andacademically rigorous environment far from home. Students must

demonstrate medical fitness and hold a valid passport.
