Autumn officially rolled in today but the mosquitoes don’t seem to know that – it’s more like a late spring hatch and boy do they suck. According to the weather forecast, no freeze is in sight possibly into October. But the good news is that some hot days ahead (check out Thursday) will have our northeast Montana farmers getting some extended hours to keep those combines rolling. And hopefully Will Lauckner’s corn patch will dry up so they can get it mowed down. Went out there for a photo on Thursday afternoon and missed out on them pulling the corn silage combine out of the mud.

Deadline for GHS Educational Trust Awards is October 15th GHS alumni pursuing higher education at the baccalaureate or vocational/technical level are strongly encouraged to apply to the GHS Educational Trust for financial assistance to help pay for tuition and other expenses for the Spring 2015 semester. The deadline is October 15, 2014, and the application is available online at www.ghsedutrust.org. With tuition and student debt both rising at historic rates, the trust would like to remind applicants that this gift is not a traditional scholarship for those who have exceptionally high grades. The awards are based primarily on need, and all applicants who have completed one year of college or one semester of trade school, who are full-time students in good academic standing at an accredited institution, and who are making steady progress toward the completion of a degree are given equal consideration. Other requirements listed on the application must be met and submitted on time. With assets now totaling over $4.2 million dollars, the trust, which was established by the GHS Class of 1938 in 1964, has awarded over $1.7 million dollars to hundreds of different GHS graduates. A vast majority of these students have received multiple grants over the course of their academic careers. This includes a significant number of nontraditional students who have completed their degrees through correspondence or online courses in addition to traditional campus instruction. The trust was founded and has been supported by hundreds of faithful donors over half a century to help as many GHS students as possible achieve their educational dreams and a better future. Apply now to be a part of this important Scotty tradition.

Real Life Wisdom

With the Sheriff ’s sale scheduled for the 23rd of September on 33 St. Marie Development Corporation (SMDC) units along with the Chapel and Annex it is important that a bit of history going back to 2005 be given you. Illeen Hathaway came to St. Marie to be with her Father who was one of the first to purchase a home at St. Marie. She was then hired by Marv Bethea to work for SMDC under him. The following is the last page or so of her 10 page statement she wrote in 2005 and it shows in part of how Mr. Bethea got to where he is now in taking over SMDC. I will later summarize how Mr. Bethea got his judgment for a quiet title action and also post on the stmariemt.com web site the active “Breach of Contract” law suit against him for not living up to the contract that gave him the judgment he is now trying to execute. I worked with Century 21 to put a package together to sell all available properties, Ann Ford, the C21 Broker was on video standby along with an Attorney who put the package together to testify that Mr. Bethea breached his contract, the contract that gave him the judgment. Mr. Bethea’s attorney got that hearing delayed. Ann Ford was ready to testify that because of Mr. Bethea’s breach she lost the sale of St. Marie to a developer who would have fully developing St. Marie and created many hundreds of jobs for Valley County. To add to the destruction this person has done, Terry Parks, the developer that went bankrupt after purchasing from me, in a hearing in Missoula, stated that Mr. Bethea was part of the reason he failed in developing St. Marie in the mid 1990’s. What started all these legal actions? Mr. Bethea put liens on properties for grass cutting etc, which Illeen Hathaway states was wrong. A person at St. Marie states the liens were bogus and that Mr. Bethea tricked him into signing the paperwork that gave him the lien. To summarize, the bogus lien would not allow SMDC to sell properties, so SMDC gave Mr. Bethea a judgment to get rid of the lien so as to be able to market the property through C21. Mr. Bethea breached the contract but has the bogus judgment he got for dropping the bogus lien and is using it to get SMDC properties on the 23rd. SMDC has not been able to sell properties to pay the judgment because Mr. Bethea did not participate as specified in the contract he breached. Fun Huh! Illeen Hathoway saw back in 2005 that it was the intentions of Mr. Bethea to take over St. Marie and her statement shows how devious the plan was. THE FOLLOWING - ILLEEN HATHAWAY’S STATEMENT: “Furthermore, I believe that there are some members of the Board that tried to do good work. I believe that Pat Kelly does have the best interest of St. Marie in mind. I believe that Elliot Strommen did the same. And, Eldon & Phyllis Huston worked very had to help our community.” What else could Marv and his cronies do further to hurt St. Marie? SMDC would soon have another Bankruptcy to contend with—now a forced Chapter 7. This is another example of how Marv worked his plan. It was Marv’s intention all along to take over St. Marie. He would not negotiate a settlement with SMDC. He blatantly hammered SMDC by using his sham condominium

association to blast SMDC with liens. He bought properties for taxes, as did his co-conspirators. I do not see any part of what these men have done as helping St. Marie progress. Where is the progress in holding SMDC hostage? NVCCA is another example of Marv’s abuse. He used a statement by a judge to develop a bogus organization—the organization that Marv could not discuss with me because of conflicts of interest. Glacier Trails is another example of Marv’s abuse. He used his own company to charge SMDC for lawn care and property management. Where in the work done for SMDC was the best interest of the corporation considered? Where in his work was the best interest of the stockholders? Here is what I know for sure. I know that the Board members of SMDC, including myself, would NEVER sign off on documents giving properties to Marv and his cronies with no recourse to recover them. We would not purposely put SMDC in jeopardy over outrageous claims of money owed to these creeps. The Board would NEVER allow Building 363 to be given to Bob Dunseth for the Post Office. We would never have signed documents giving Marv and Bob free rent, free renovations, and give them free reign to use this building as they saw fit. The Board was completely misled on this transaction as well as so many others. The Board would have NEVER sold properties to Pat Suminski for a trade of properties and a few thousand dollars. We were misled on the negotiations of these transactions, too. The Board would never approve transactions between Marv and his family members to suit only their needs. The Board was misled on these transactions with Ron and Elsie Speers. It is my belief that even the Speers have no idea what transpired with the contracts signed between Marv and them. I believe that the Board was purposely misled to believe that the work being done by Marv was in the best interest of SMDC. Finally, I have worked to cull this down from over 12 pages of work. What I have written above is my opinion and feelings. It has been a difficult journey working in St. Marie. I do hope that by staying the course, we will see justice for the felonious acts of attacks against SMDC. ~ Pat Kelly St. Marie
