September Meeting Dates

Reporting deadline for MGV hours will now be done

on the calendar year. So hours (if you have them) will

be due Dec 31st this year. SO much easier to

remember than an end of October reporting deadline

and a November 1st start of new hours.

With so many projects and events cancelled this year,

there will not be an annual report.

And once again, you will not need volunteer hours to

recertify next year BUT you will need your minimum of

10 hours of continuing education. And we ask you to

PLEASE report any volunteer hours you were able to

do this year. It will still count towards grant money.

The Madison 2021 Garden & Landscaping Expo will not be held at the Alliance Center in

February. Instead it will be virtual. Go to: https://www.wigardenexpo.com/ for more details.

From Cheryl Frazier: With the exception of a few small informational signs, the pollinator garden at the Soldiers Grove Library is completed. There were originally two gardens, one on either side of the walkway to the front door. But there was a decision to take the one garden and put up a flag pole and seed it with grass. The other garden will remain a pollinator garden. There is a very diverse selection of plants to serve a variety of pollinators and other wildlife. This includes a large serviceberry tree that the Cedar Waxwings love.

Also of note is the inclusion of a watering spot. This is a simple set up of a clay pot tray, pea gravel and a few seashells. They will be maintaining it by adding water just to the level of the pea gravel creating a mini pond for butterflies and bees.

Right now, the weather is taking a toll on the garden so the main focus is to keep everything happy until we get some rain!
