Fine Charge Increase

Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority has

deemed it necessary to increase the trash fines to $10.00 each occurrence at all ZMHA properties due

to the cost of operating expenses and the growing

trash problems. An occurrence is considered:

1. Trash not set out at the curb/placed in dumpster

2. Trash not in cans, which includes when it is

taken to the curb on trash day

3. Lids not on cans

4. Trash can(s) left at the curb

5. Litter/trash in yard, patio, or window well(s)

6. Food, oil, or other debris in yard, patio, window

well(s), or on buildings

7. Motorized vehicle on lawn, sidewalk, patio or in a no parking zone

If a representative of ZMHA places a work order to pick up trash due to a tenant’s failure to do so, there

will also be a maintenance charge for the mainte-

nance time according to the current labor cost.

This notice will be posted at rent collection offices at Coopermill Manor and Maple Terrace Apartments,

as well as at the James Singer Activity Center from

August 19, 2019 through September 18, 2019.

All comments must be in writing and sent to 407 Pershing Road no later than September 18, 2019.

ZMHA will consider comments before

implementing this change.

If implemented, the effective date for this change will

be October 1, 2019.

Trash Collection Trash is to be put out during the following nights for pickup the next morning:

Adams Circle– Sun. Night 6pm for pick up on Mon. morning

Michael Dr.–Mon. night 6pm for Tues. morning

Larzelere–Tues. night 6pm for Wed. morning

Manor and Race Circle- Wed. night 6pm for Thurs. morning. Trash

collection is done by the City of Zanesville. Do not leave trash cans at the top

of stairs. The City of Zanesville requires that the trash be set to the curb or at

a designated area or they will not pick the trash up.

The Post office will not take requests for Mailbox lock changes from

ZMHA tenants. If you are having problems with your mailbox, please

notify the office before 2:00 p.m. to put in a work order.

Youth Employment Services

The YES Program currently has

participants who have gained their Practical

Nursing degree, STNA certification, are

working towards an electric engineering

degree and much more. Make an

appointment today!

You must be a Muskingum County resident

but you DO NOT have to live in a ZMHA

property. You must be 16-24 years old and

OUT OF SCHOOL (Dropped out or

graduated). You must also meet income

guidelines.

SENIOR NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER

Lunch is served every week M-F at the James D. Singer senior nutrition site at 11 A.M. Lunches are provided by Christ’s Table to

anyone who needs or wants a lunch. You must be 55 years of age to eat at the site and a donation for Christ’s Table is appreciated. If

you need a lunch and are under 55 years of age you can go to Christ’s Table on 6th Street. If you are over 55 and would like to come to

the site and eat you must let us know in advance so we can get you a lunch ordered. Please call Carol at 740-452-5463 the day before!

ACTIVITIES: GROCERY BINGO Grocery bingo is every Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. through 10:15 am at the Singer site. Connect Four and Checkers is played daily at

the Singer Site. Grocery bingo is played at the Maple High-Rise every Tuesday morning at 9:15 through 10:15.

CHAIR VOLLEYBALL

Chair volleyball will start on Tuesday September 10 and we will play for 6 weeks the last game will be October 15 with a luncheon to follow.

TRANSPORTATION- Do you need transportation to the grocery, bank, pharmacy, cable, Jobs and Family Services or the post office? Carol takes Coopermill Manor senior residents every Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. and the Maple High-Rise senior residents every Monday at 12:30 P.M. If you live in the Coopermill Manor and would like transportation please call Carol at 740-452-5463. If you live at the Maple High-Rise please be in the lobby area at 12:30. Coopermill residents can go to Pick-N-Save, Save- A- Lot, Wal-Mart and Campbell’s. High-Rise residents can go to Aldi’s and Kroger’s, Wal-Mart Super Store and Pick-N- Save down town every other week. Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program

FSS is designed to help you set and accomplish individual goals

such as furthering your education, acquiring your drivers license,

obtaining and maintaining employment, credit repair and debt

relief, among others. While you are working on your plan for

achievement the program can offer you the opportunity to earn a

savings account. We currently have families with accounts as big

as$5,000.00 and all the money can be theirs upon completion of

the program and their goals. New participants are eligible for a

$15 dollar gas card or the equivalent in bus

passes!

The FSS Program is offered to all ZMHA

residents in the following locations:

Larzelere Ave

Adams Circle

Race Circle

Existing FSS clients of Coopermill Manor are still

eligible to remain on the program under HUD-RAD rules.

Advantage Group

The FSS Advantage group will be Monday, Septem-

ber 9th at 1pm in the Nutrition site at the James

Singer Activity Center. Current FSS Participants

Attention All Residents

Somehow there has been a misconception about the pet policy

and having pets at the unit. There are to be no animals at the

unit until you have read and understood the Pet Policy,

applied to add an animal by filling out the proper paperwork

and been approved to have an animal at the unit. NO

PETS are permitted anywhere on the premises at any time,

unless you have complied with all aspects of the Pet Policy.

This includes visitor’s pets and pet-sitting. Do not permit

your visitors to bring their pets with them when they visit. It

is also prohibited to put food out or feed stray cats anywhere

on the properties.

Hi Rise Resident Council will be held at

the Hi-Rise on September 11th at

1:30pm.

The ZMHA Resident Advisory Board will

be held at the James Singer Activity

Center on September 18th at Noon.

Resident Services Staff will be out
