President’s Message Dear CCW Members,
The hazy, lazy days of summer are over. The days are getting shorter. Kids are going back to school. CCW is starting a
new year of activities.
There have been changes made at Blessed Sacrament. Due to the Diocese of Metuchen’s “Protect God’s Children”
protocol, WE HAVE CHANGED OUR MEETING DAY TO THE 2ND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH. Adult
meetings will be held on Wednesday night. Mark your calenders with this new day.
Our first meeting will be Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 12TH at 7:00pm. The program will be “Stickmen are back: Priest,
Prophet and King”. Our presenter will be Shannon Civetti who was the presenter at our Morning of Reflection last fall.
Shannon was very well received by those who attended that retreat. She is the daughter of our member, Ro Bersch.
The October meeting is Wednesday, October 10th and will be a presentation on “Healthy Eating” by Samantha Nuzio, a
Shop Rite Dietician. Join CCW members on a tour of the Hillsborough Shop Rite in mid-October!
Save the calories. We will again be collecting your leftover Halloween candy to use in the Valentine treats that we
make in January for the retired nuns at Mt. St. Mary’s, the Vocationist nuns and the parish staff.
At the November 14th meeting, we will again make the Jesse Tree tags and wrap the gifts for the children’s Christmas
party. Come help make the tags and visit and get to know other members while we work.
On Sunday, November 11th, there will be a CCW Unity mass at 10:30. I am asking that as many members as
possible attend. Wear black skirt or pants and a white top. It is a time when we can demonstrate that CCW is an
organization that is active in the parish.
The annual Christmas social will be Monday, December 10th at Luna Rossa in Pluckemin. This is an enjoyable evening
with lots of laughs during the Yankee Trading gift exchange.
The trip to the Radio City Christmas show is a success. It is sold out and there are 8 people on the waiting list. Thank
you to Carol Hopkins for organizing the trip and to Jean Mans for taking the reservations.
Your help is needed and we welcome your assistance with CCW activities. You can be instrumental in making this a
great year. If you can help with a project, small or large, let me know. Talk to me at a meeting or call me and find out if
there is something you would like to do.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on September 12th. God Bless You All, Mary Ellen Schleckser

Shannon has long been passionate about evangelizing Scripture awareness, serving as a consultant for Ascension Press Bible Study Company. She has initiated Bible Studies in several parishes and presented Scripture based programs throughout the Diocese of Paterson. Recently she received the Catholic Evangelization Certificate from Seton Hall/St. Paul Inside the Wall.
PLEASE HELP:: WE NEED MEAT LOAVES!
BRING your meatloaf to the September 12th Meeting

Please make one or more meat loaves, FREEZE them, and bring it/them to the CCW meeting on Wednesday, September 12th. Bake a 2lb. meatloaf, cool it, wrap it in plastic wrap, Put in a ziplock bag and mark it as meatloaf & the date. FREEZE the meatloaf

November 14th Meeting Jesse Tree Tags Preparation
Christmas is around the corner and our Jesse Tree gift program continues this year, our 26th year. Your many helping hands and wonderful generosity spread the joy of Christmas to 400 families last year. Please join us again for this fun CCW holiday tradition. Please bring scissors and hole punches to the meeting. The trees and tags will be placed in the Church area the weekend of November 24 through Sunday, December 9. We need volunteers to replenish the trees with gift tags, taking gifts after masses to the downstairs storage area, packing for delivery and drivers to deliver the gifts. You can volunteer for any of the above at the November 14th CCW meeting or contact Carol Hopkins directly at 908-685-4008 or [email protected]. CCW members will also wrap Parish gifts for the Blessed Sacrament children’s party held annually in December!

Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel
Patron Saint of CCW
God of Heavenly wisdom, you have given us Mary, Mother of Jesus to be our guide and counselor.
Grant that we may always seek her motherly help in this life and so enjoy her blessed presence in the life to come.
Mother of Good Counsel, patroness of the National Council of Catholic Women, intercede for us, that we may be wise, courageous and loving leaders of the church.
Help us, dear Mother, to know the mind of Jesus, your son. May the Holy Spirit fill us with reverence for God’s creation and compassion for all
God’s children. May our labor of love on earth enhance the reign of God and may God’s gifts of faith and living hope prepare us for the fullness of the world to come. Amen.
