TRA Repair UpdateSeptember 27, 2016
While the dirt mounds may be gone, the sewer line crewsstill have some work to complete. The new manhole hasbeen poured and will be backfilled tomorrow.
There is some other concrete work that needs to be donearound the existing manholes to repair damage from thebypass lines. Also some more finish grading in front ofthe shotgun range and on the rifle range.
They expect this to be complete by the end of the week ifall goes well. All ranges will continue to be closed onweekdays until around 4 pm. They will be open as usualon weekends.
I will send out another email when the ranges canresume normal weekday use. Please do not use thembefore 4 pm until then.
Thanks,
Jeff Zwiebel
We all recognize Jason Foshea and WillChisum as championship shooters on theclay fields, and as the picture below shows, they are just as effective on the dove fields, great shooting guys!!

GPGC held the World Warm Up registered skeet tournament September 16 – 18. Theevent drew seventy –three shooters including seven international contestants from Englandand New Zealand.
The Doubles event opened the tournament with two rotations slated. Highest scores ofthe day were two 98s from Mike Gerschick and Andrew Benson. Experience prevailed overyouth and when the shoot- offs were through, Gerschick emerged as CH. Jason Fosheaearned third place with a score of 97. Michael Dennis (AA) and Nicholas Godfrey (A) wereClass Champs also with scores of 97.
The 12 gauge event saw Jo Ellen Collin return to defend her 2015 win as gun CH witha perfect score of 100. A challenge came from Nicholas Godfrey and Allen Cline when theyalso shot perfect scores; this time Godfrey took gun champ, Collin RU and Cline 3rd. Foshea(AAA) once again took class champ along with Jeff Zwiebel (B), both had scores of 99. As atestament to the target quality at GPGC, the 12g contestant had have scored a 95 or better inall classes to have garnered an award.
The 20g championship was won outright by Michael Dennis with the lone 100. Scoresof 99 rendered Nicholas Godfrey RU and Michael Schmitt 3rd. Once the shoot-offs werecompleted entrants were treated to a steak dinner prepared by the lovely ladies of the kitchen( plus Mr. Shuping) and Grill Master Richard Kummer. The evening’s entertainment wasprovided by Plano Synergy and their very generous donation of game cameras and gun caseswhich given away as door prizes.
Despite the ideal conditions on Sunday morning, the 28g also had a lone 100 from GaryEdwards (CH). Runner up and third came from seven scores of 99s; Godfrey (RU) and Cline(3rd) again showing they are not intimidated by the shoot off field and bested the group.
410 concluded the main shoot and Paul Newman was the Champ with a 100. Localgentlemen Ran Davis and Michael Dennis put up 98’s for RU and 3rd respectively and AustinReith’s 98 won him AAA1. Lady CH was Ms. Jo Ellen Collin and only one bird behind her wasMiss Charli Abendroth for LyRU.
The coveted HOA title went to Michael Dennis with a score of 394. Paul Newman,Nicholas Godfrey, Andrew Benson and Austin Reith vied for RU and 3rd. When the dust settled, experience triumphed over age once again and Mr. Newman was runner up and Godfrey 3rd.Benson took home AAA1 and Rieth AA1.
Recognition should be given to those whose efforts made The World Warm-Up part ofthe top 100 shoots in the country. The team of Skidmore and Speer who manage registrationand statistical data are unequaled anywhere. The field volunteers deserve to be laudedbecause they are always in stealth mode and never inconvenience the squads or interrupt ashot. Gene Wills, Jeff Zwiebel, Richard Kummer , Randy Walhood have earned my respectfor the time and effort they devote to the facility. Plano Synergy and the Lovelace familygraciously donate door prizes for two registered tournaments a year and everyone loves a gift.Last but not least, the kitchen is manned by a cast of characters that work hard all day for twodays and most do not even shoot competitive skeet. Thank you to you all!
GPGC has the mastered the formula for successful registered skeet tournaments and itlies with the members who work so diligently to make the club what it is.

GPGC Bullseye Match 9/30/2016We had 10 shooters participating this afternoon. It was really great weather today, probablythe reason we had 10 shooters! The participants were as follows:
Wesley Binney,Clint Freeman, RonMcCuller,Floyd Jester,Jim Wilson, Ed Dotson, Hoa Nguyen,Jim Grabbe, Gary Ledbetter, and Dan Brown not shown (taking the picture).
The high scorers were Floyd Jester ,Winner, scoring280-4"X"'s ,shooting a S&W M 617 22 REVOLVER,and Gary Ledbetter, second, scoring 272-6 "X".s,shooting a S&W Victory .22 auto. Floyd shot 97'sin BOTH timed and Rapid Fire. Gary shot 93 in slowfire!
Both used 2 hand hold on their guns. I made the firstmistakes in the score sheet last night right after the
match in adding up the scores to get the totals. Then I reviewed the score sheet and re-scoredall of the targets. Gary's 93 in slow fire stood out. I wonder if anyone else has scored 93 inslow fire? A couple of weeks ago Floyd shot a 100 in timed fire. Those 2 scores are the highestI have seen in 20-25 years of running matches here at GPGC. Congratulations guys!
