Parish News

We hope that everybody had a great summer and we look forward to seeing everyone for the

new ecclesiastical year. Winter hours will start on Sunday, September 13th; Divine Liturgy begins at

10 AM. Sunday school registration will take place during coffee hour in the church hall on

September 13th.

Parish Council On September 13

th the Parish Council will be sponsoring the Sunday coffee hour in honor of

Vasilios Palaskas. Mr. Palaskas was a devoted parishioner and a committed parish council member

for many years. He will be sorely missed in our community. May his memory be eternal.

The monthly Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, September 21st at 7 PM.

Philoptochos News As the newly elected President of the Assumption Church Philoptochos Society “Soteria,” I extend

my sincere good wishes for a fruitful and rewarding year for our organization and our parish.

All Philoptochos members are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, and I encourage you to

join us. By attending meetings, you will learn about the philanthropic work of the Philoptochos

Society at all levels. We support our church and other local charitable organizations, as well as

the many important ministries of the Metropolis of Boston and the National Philoptochos

Society. We also welcome all women of the parish who are not already members of

Philoptochos to join.

We need your ideas and input on how to better serve others and fulfill our mission. We’re a

small Board, and would also appreciate your help at coffee hours and other functions that we

sponsor. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 pm.

I also want to remind those who have fresh basil to bring it to church for the September 14th Feast

of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

The Philoptochos Society will hold its annual Autumn Bazaar Saturday and Sunday, October 24th

and 25th. (See flyer for details.) Please join us for our traditional celebration of the fall season.

We’ll have delicious Greek food and pastry, raffles, a penny sale, and other gifts.

We need volunteers to help at the bazaar, as well as donations of pastry and new gifts for the

penny sale table.

Please contact a Philoptochos Board member for more information, or to volunteer your services.

New Horizons Soup Kitchen

New Horizons Soup Kitchen is Sunday, September 27th, 4-6 PM. We are looking for new volunteers

to join our group. This is such a rewarding experience; please join us for less than two hours of

fellowship with the group from the Assumption Church. If you have any questions, please call the

church office at 623-2045. Thank you!

Choir On Thursday, September 17

th at 6:30 PM we will be having our first choir rehearsal of the season.

Calling all parishioners! We are looking for volunteers to join our talented choir. All ages are

welcome; all that is required is your passion and love for our church! Please contact our Choir

Director, Joan Virga at 603-553-9525 or the church office.

Youth Ministry News

Sunday School & Greek School

Sunday School registration will take place on Sunday, September 13th during coffee hour in

the church hall.

Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 20th. Please have your children at church

for 10:00 AM.

On Thursday, September 17th from 3:30 to 6:30 PM, we will have registration for Greek

School. We hope that all parents can join us to register their children that day.

Greek School will begin on Thursday, September 24th at 3:30 PM.

We look forward to an amazing and blessed year in our Youth Ministries!

BUSINESS CARD ADVERTISING

Anyone with a business that would like to advertise in our monthly bulletin, please contact the Church office.

A business card format, about 2 ½” x 1 ½” will run for a period of 12 months for one set fee of $150.00 a year.

This will help to defray the ever-increasing costs of printing and mailing these bulletins to our homes as well as

advertising your business to our parishioners and through word of mouth, to their friends.

This is a great opportunity for all!
