Most importantly, I believe a good repu-

reputation is more valuable than anything. The Electrical Advertiser

As many of you know, I read Harvey Mackay articles regularly, and

always find a point that is applicable to our business and probably

yours. He is one of American’s most popular and entertaining busi-

ness writers and speakers. Toastmaster made him one of the top 5

speakers in the world. He has also written two New York Times

best sellers. Recently, he wrote an article on customer service. It

was entitled “Customers Feast on Great Service”. The main point

of the article is that good companies don’t say no to their customers

and don’t need managers permission to satisfy customer requests.

National Field Services, a NETA-accredited electrical equipment testing and maintenance com-pany, announced today its expansion to serve customers in the Gulf Coast region of Texas andthe Central Texas (Austin and San Antonio-area) markets.

National Field Services is opening its Gulf Coast branch in the Houston area. The new divisionjoins the company’s flagship Dallas-Fort Worth-area operation in Lewisville, Texas, as well as

its newly opened Central Texas branch.

Regarding the two new branches, company co-founder and president Doug Powell said, “It’s been a strategic goal to be a top-tierprovider of electrical testing and maintenance in the Texas region. These expansions position us to serve customers across the state.”

Leading the new Central Texas branch office is Operations Manager Matt LaCoss, who brings nearly 20 years of experience in thetesting and supervising of high voltage testing and maintenance of power distribution and transmission systems to the company.LaCoss joined National Field Services after a competitor electrical testing company, at which he served as a superintendent of fieldservices, redirected its focus to serving customers in another sector.

“We are pretty amped up,” LaCoss said, “to be part of a company that has a good value system and gives us a really tremendousopportunity for growth and to do the things we do best.”

The new Central Texas branch is establishing customer relationships in Central Texas, with a particular focus on utility, industrial andlarge commercial clients. “We’ve got some very knowledgeable and experienced technicians,” LaCoss added, “and they can tacklealmost anything that’s out there. We can do industrial; we can do transmission; we can do distribution; we can do commercial.”

The new Gulf Coast branch is also headed by Matt LaCoss, with project management support from Vu Tran, who brings 20-plus yearsof technical and managerial experience, along with deep industry connections, to the new enterprise.

The Gulf Coast branch will focus on serving the needs of customers in the petrochemical industry and already is in the process ofnegotiating several customer contracts. The new branch gives National Field Services, whose client base is primarily utilities andlarge commercial customers, access to an entirely new market.

One key competitive edge will be National Field Services’ affiliation with National Switchgear, a major supplier of used and surpluspower distribution equipment, also based in Lewisville.

are often disappointed in the service they receive, even from

companies they have done business with for years. Those

companies would be wise to remember that one bad experi-

ence can destroy customer loyalty. And anyone in business

knows it is much more expensive to find new customers than

to retain existing ones.

“You can have the finest products, the best food, the most

incredible hotel rooms, the trendiest styles, but if you don’t

deliver quality service, you have nothing. Even in this instant

gratification world, customers relish personal service. They

want to feel important. They want to know that someone

cares about their needs.”

Harvey concludes, remember, most customers aren’t askingfor miracles. They might have special requests or needs thatare not part of your usual offerings. But, if you can accom-modate them, do it.

On July 24th over 98 golfers and friends participated in the 11th Annual Troy Hannasch Golf Event.

Troy, now 21 years old, was born with Cerebral Palsy and has many special needs. Money raised in the past was used toremodel Troy's bathroom with a lift system, a van conversion for his wheelchair, a handicap tandem bike, and a specialized iPad with a larger screen and a touch screen. John Hannasch of Northwest Lighting and his wife Carrie arevery appreciative of the support they receive from their friends, neighbors, Northwest Lighting's employees and cus-tomers. This years event was held at Boulder Pointe Golf Club in Elko, MN. The event included box lunches, golf,door prizes, a raffle and silent auction. After the tournament, The Chart House in Lakeville, MN and Buffalo WildWings also from Lakeville sponsored the appetizers.
