This is the perfect time to pick up that special gift for Christmas, locate that English class read or add to your collection of a favorite author. If you have books to donate please contact Susan Carroll 303-791-4323 or deliver them to CLC BEFORE our set up date of Friday October 10th. We need volunteers for Saturday Services as well as Sundays. From mid to late September, David Ocitti, OU Project Coordinator and native Ugandan, will be visiting the metro Denver area for the first time. We are encouraging our sponsors, donors, volunteers and anyone who's interested in our work to take advantage of this opportunity to meet David and ask questions, learn more about Uganda and how our projects impact the communities we serve. David will be staying at our home in Highlands Ranch from Sept. 16th through the 26th. We would love for other CLC members to host David for a dinner in your home or take him out for a cultural event in the afternoon or to go for a walk in your favorite park. All ages, especially children, could benefit from this learning experience! He is greatly looking forward to the chance to thank everyone who has been helping the women and children of Uganda. We will also be hosting an open house (tentatively scheduled for Sept. 24th) during his visit. He will be at CLC on September 21st. From Colorado, David will move on to southern California to attend a workshop to learn techniques for cultivating a certain herb (a multipurpose tree) that will help generate additional income for northern Uganda farmers. Christ Lutheran Church • Highlands Ranch, CO • Gathering † Gifting † Sending

This is a great time to clean out your great summer reads and replace them with some fantastic fall and winter nds.

From mid to late September, David Ocitti, OU Project Coordinator and native Ugandan, will be visiting the metro Denver area for the rst time.

All ages, especially

children, could benet from this learning experience! He is greatly looking forward to the chance to thank everyone who has been helping the women and children of Uganda.

We will also be hosting an open house (tentatively scheduled for Sept. 24th) during his visit. He will be at CLC on September 21st. What do you want to askbut were always afraid?

It has occurred to me over the last several weeks that I may be answering questions that no one is asking. For instance: is anyone still arguing the points of justication and the means of grace as they were in the 16th century? Anyone? Assuming no one answered in the armative, I have a proposition.

Rather than writing articles about what I think you would ask, I am going to open up my newsletter articles to the questions you are actually asking. If you have a question about the Lutheran interpretation of the book of Revelation, ask it! If you were wondering how many kings sat on the throne of the Southern Kingdom, re away!

In the response sheet in the coming weeks, you will see a line to ask Pastor DJ a question, please take advantage. These will remain anonymous so no need to worry about appearing foolish or anything of that nature. However, if you are seeking a more personal response, you may want to include your name so that I can make the personal connection.

In the months that follow, the newsletter articles I craft will reect the questions I have received. I’m looking forward to what occupies your hearts and minds.

Peace,Pastor DJ

News From the PreschoolWelcome back to school!

Hello from downstairs and we hope everyone has settled back into the school routine. We are very excited to be back and in full swing. We are very blessed to have so many children here to learn about God’s love and have fun!

September brings two Chapel themes; Two Small Coins and The Farmer’s Seeds, hosted by Mr. Gary. Our storyteller also returns with exciting adventures to share and we will be getting our pictures taken. And, parents will get to visit with their teachers for goal planning. Thank you for your continued support and have a great month! We spent most of the summer upgrading things in the preschool and playground – come down for a look during Sunday school.

Blessings, Deb and Blair

In May, the CLC Council initiated a congregational survey to assess the mood of the church and in turn help guide future direction. 240 responses were received, with 85% of those coming from church members. Overall, the responses indicate that the congregation is pleased with the state of the church. One notable area weighing on the congregation's consciousness is church nances. Of the respondents who answered the question regarding CLC's nancial state, a majority indicated that they were "concerned".

The council expects to utilize the survey results to guide future strategic direction, beginningwith near-term decisions for the coming year. A detailed review and discussion of the survey ndings will be a meaningful part of the agenda for the November Business Meeting (slated for Saturday, November 15th). Subsequently, as that date draws near you can expect to see more information related to the specics of the survey. In the meantime, please feel free to talk with any of the Council members regarding the survey and planned next steps.
