You are so very important! You are valued and loved. And no matter who you are or where you are on your faith journey, there is a place for you at Lord of Life. This fall offers more occasions than ever before to worship, to learn, to serve and to build relationships with others.

There is a place for you to worship For those who like to worship in the evening, there is a 5:30 service every Saturday night. For those who prefer Sunday morning, we have three services: 8:30, 9:45 and 11. We are also adding a short, devotional worship experience called “Ecclesia” on Sundays at 7 pm and repeated on Wednesdays at 5:45 pm. All who are in the building for C3, L5 or any other activities are welcome to be a part of Ecclesia!

There is a place for you to learn Our new effort for adults – L5: Life Long Learning at Lord of Life –

provides a wide array of opportunities to grow personally and spiritually. For those who are new or a bit apprehensive about Bible study, try “Discovering the Bible, Conquering the Fear.” For those who want to dig deeper into the Bible, there is an in-depth class on the prophet Isaiah. want to prayerfully crochet a prayer shawl or commit to praying for others through the Prayer Network, there is a place for you to serve.

There is a place for you to build relationships So much of what we are involved in together helps us to grow in our relationship with one another, but some are especially community-building. Whether you are male (there is a great new ministry for men – REAL Men!) or female (Wednesday mornings at Word for Women are great times to build relationships), there is a place for you at Lord of Life. Christian Life groups continue to be places for men and

women to share their faith journeys, and our OWLs – Older Wiser Lutherans – have found a way to combine faith, food and fellowship! For those in need of an opportunity to relax and enjoy the company of others, we have groups that focus on fun and games. . . folks who play Bunco, others who play 500, and still others who play bridge. Whoever you are, there is a place for you to build relationships at Lord of Life.

I encourage each of you to make it a priority to worship, serve, learn and build relationships with others at Lord of Life this fall. May God richly bless your faith journey!

Less than a year ago my husband and I moved to Maple

Grove from Houston, Texas and joined Lord of Life. I joined Word

for Women (WFW) right after the first of the year, when they started

their new Bible study. Someone from my designated group was looking out for

me at that first meeting, and truthfully, they have been looking out for me ever since. Word for

Women has been a true blessing in my life. It has expanded my faith, helped me grow spiritually, and I have made such wonderful friendships. I encourage you to “jump in with both feet” this fall – I am so glad I did, and you will be too!

I am excited and grateful to have a place this fall leading the L5 course “Wiser Women - God’s Power in the Midlife Experience.” Planning and preparing for the course has been a joy-filled education for me. I am anxious to share what I have learned, as well as learn from the insights of the course participants.

Experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit at work when we are learning together is what I am most excited about. We are created to live life connected to others, and the new L5 adult learning opportunities are designed to do just that!

The Timeless Style and Message of Prayer ShawlsBy Janet Seim

The popularity of maxi skirts and pedal pushers faded quickly, but prayer shawls have been with us since the days of the early Jews and don’t seem to be going out of fashion. Jewish men wore a garment called a talith or prayer shawl. Talith contains two Hebrew words; “tal” meaning tent and “ith” meaning little; a little tent. Jewish men would use their prayer shawl as a private

sanctuary where they could meet with God, pulling it up over their heads to form a tent. It was intimate and set apart from anyone else -- enabling them to totally focus upon God.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry continues the tradition of the talith by providing a visible way for us to nurture and care

for members of our church family and friends around the world when they experience trials or triumphs.

The first Lord of Life shawls were given in 2005. The ministry started out of a need to focus prayer time, much like the early Jews, along with a way to serve those in need. Three thousand shawls later, makers continue to stitch and loop while praying for others. Over eleven hundred miles of yarn, enough to reach Houston, TX, have gone into them. The finished shawls provide a tangible way to show that God’s love and comfort remains constant despite our struggles.

Celebrate this ministry and energize your prayer shawl by wearing it to worship on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23. It will be fun to see the rainbow of colors fill the sanctuary and know that you are covered in prayer.

spiritPlay! In the book Cutting for Stone, there is a conversation between a mother and her young son whom she is encouraging to become a surgeon. He asks, “Why must I do what is hardest?” Her answer, “Because, Marion, you are an instrument of God. Don’t leave the instrument sitting in its case, my son. Play! Leave no part of your instrument unexplored. Why settle for Three Blind Mice when you can play the Gloria?”

When her son protested that he could not dream of playing Bach, she said, “No, not Bach’s Gloria. Yours! Your Gloria lives within you. The greatest sin is not finding it, ignoring what God made possible to you.”

All of us are instruments of God—not all the same instruments, but unique instruments. All of us have our own Gloria’s to play. One instrument can be beautiful and sometimes preferred, but it is when many different instruments begin to play together that great music is made.

With our building addition complete, I believe we are embarking on a new and exciting era at Lord of Life. The new space will allow us to provide adult programming that will help each of us to find what God made possible in us. L5—Life Long Learning at Lord of Life—will be the cornerstone in

this effort. My hope is that everyone will find at least one class that interests them and helps them to grow. Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and do something hard.

Let’s not keep our instruments packed in their cases this fall. Let’s begin making music and using the gifts and talents in our church and community. Let’s explore what God has made possible to us as we worship, serve, learn and give. Don’t settle for Three Blind Mice. Play your Gloria’s.

Be Still and Know that I Am God - Psalm 46:10by Pastoral Associate Karen GreimelWe value that healing comes in many forms, and God knows exactly what type of healing we need most. It can be physical, emotional, relational, psychological and even healing from addiction. But how many of us think about the health of our relationship with God? We pray, go to worship and volunteer. We are basically good people trying to do all the right stuff. But how is your relationship with God? Is there room for enhancement, a need for healing, repentance or forgiveness?

God desires a healthy, whole relationship with us. As I consider my relationship with God, I believe there is always room for healing and growth. One way we can receive healing and grow in our relationship with God is to be still. Have you made space in the movements of your life to be still with God? We are all moving at Mach speed through life, but God did not create us to be constantly on the go. There are limits to our energy and when we are still with

God, we accept those limitations and honor God. This is where healing and growth are nourished.

How often do you just sit with God, to still your body, mind, heart, soul and spirit with no expectations or requirements? Are you willing to take the “sit still” challenge of spending just 5 minutes a day being still with God? To simply sit still with God means just the two of you with no agenda, just being. Try it daily for a week, I would love to hear about your experience.

If you have any questions about Lord of Life’s Healing Ministry or to schedule a prayer appointment, please contact me at [email protected] or 763.420.5015 x144. The next healing service will be Monday, September 17 at 6:30 pm in the Lord of Life Prayer Room.

Letters from One Devil to

AnotherA Review by Alice Woodard of The

Screwtape Letters: How a Senior Devil Instructs a Junior Devil in the Art of Temptation

by C.S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters was written by C.S. Lewis in 1941, 10 years after he became a Christian. His decision for Christ was made when he was 33 years old, after long conversations with his friend J.R.R. Tolkien. (Never underestimate the power of a chat!)

In The Screwtape Letters (dedicated to Tolkien) Lewis reveals the correspondence between a Senior Devil, Screwtape, and a Junior Devil, Wormwood, who is also his nephew. Lewis believes in devils, though he makes it clear that he does not believe in “the Devil.” He means that he believes in devils, that is, he believes in angels, and that “some of these, by the abuse of their free will, have become enemies to God and, as a corollary, to us.”

To a devil, God is the Enemy. God undoes all the nasty work the devils do and makes the devil’s “patients” resistant to their charms. Screwtape knows his enemy quite well. He knows how God works. And he understands how much God loves his creatures: “For we must never forget what is the most repellent and inexplicable trait in our Enemy; He really loves the hairless bipeds He has created, and always gives back to them with His right hand what He has taken away with His left.”

Of course C.S. Lewis isn’t the first one to think of how a devil might react to the works of God. Martin Luther wrote, “The best way to drive out the devil, if he will not yield to texts of Scripture, is to jeer and flout him, for he cannot bear scorn.” But here we go giving devils all the attention, just what they want. Lewis actually tells us as much about God as about devils in this book.

On Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9, we will dedicate our beautiful new space! Whether you are in worship that morning or involved with Church School in one of the new areas, you will help give thanks and praise to God for the blessing of the new building. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to making this dream an amazing reality.

The 10/10/80 PlanThe proliferation of credit cards in

America is truly amazing. The reason that many people get three or four credit

card applications in the mail every week is that these cards are a gold mine for the companies

that distribute them. The return on their investment is usually anywhere from 12 to 22 percent. As I tell my children, “If you like making someone else very rich, use your credit card irresponsibly.”

So let me share a little advice. The first time you fail to pay off a monthly balance in full, it is no longer a credit card, it is a debt card. You are now a slave to your debt. And the Bible warns us about the dangers of excessive debt.

Solution? Choose one or two well-recognized cards and use them as often as you must, but never fail to pay off the monthly balance. If you fall behind, stop using the cards and pay off the balance in full as soon as you can. If you can’t

control the urges that cause you to abuse your cards, leave them at home and make your purchases with cash.

There are four important things we can do with our money. Earn it, spend it, save it, and give it away. We do pretty well with the first two and not so well with the last two. The Bible has a 10/10/80 plan for using the money we earn. Give ten percent away, save ten percent and spend the rest for whatever we need.

When you get a paycheck, pay God first and then pay yourself second and all others come in third. But we often get it backwards. And when God is last in our lives, we can find ourselves in an economic mess. One positive step we can all initiate today is to get our credit card spending under control. This is a most important step towards financial freedom.

Relay for Life 2012Relay for Life was a huge success. Lots of miles were walked, countless volunteer hours given, and money raised. Some important information: · 259 registered participants (many more came to walk alongside a family member or friend) · 26 teams · $72,353 dollars raised to date · Lord of Life had 6 teams, 65 registered people and has raised $11,166 to date!

There were 49 registered survivors who took part in the opening ceremonies and dinner provided by Lord of Life for them and their guests. One survivor had been diagnosed 30 years ago, another just 1 ½ weeks ago. Imagine the HOPE that newly diagnosed person walked away with after meeting a longtime survivor. 3 LOL Women’s Cancer Support Group members leading the survivor lap

Mission Jamaica 2013The deadline for registering for one of our Mission Jamaica experiences is approaching quickly!

Mission Jamaica is an amazing, life-changing experience. Our mission team will travel together to work and serve those in need. This year we will have teams serving in three different ways: · A team will serve at Westhaven Children’s Home, doing direct care of the developmentally disabled children and youth living there, as well as construction and maintenance. · Another team will also serve at Clifton Boys’ Home, an orphanage for adolescent boys that provides hope and direction. · A medical team will work in the Montego Bay area, so folks with medical expertise are needed.

We will have teams in Jamaica over two weeks: March 16-23 and March 23-30. Our first week will be an adult week working at Clifton and Westhaven. Our second week will be a family week; families with children as young as 7th grade may serve together. It’s an amazing experience for a family to work together, taking care of those in need and loving in Jesus’ name. Our medical team will also serve during the second week.

To participate in Mission Jamaica, a registration form and a non-refundable deposit of $150 is due on or before September 16. More information is available at lordoflife.org/missionjamaica. We will also hold a Mission Jamaica information meeting on Sunday, September 16 at 12:15 pm. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Todd at [email protected].

Celebrate RecoveryStarting Tuesday, September 11, Celebrate Recovery will add a new women’s small group that will deal with food/eating issues. If you’ve ever felt that food has taken on a more

important role in your life than you would like it to, we invite you to join us on Tuesday nights.

We will explore through the 12 Steps of Celebrate Recovery how God wants to help us address the hurts, hang-ups, and habits we experience with food.

This is not a weight loss group. It is a support group designed to help each of us find freedom from our food/eating issues the best way we can: with God’s help.

No registration is needed and childcare is provided. For more information, please contact Michelle Welinski at [email protected] or 763.420.5015 x118.

Two Opportunities to Serve with LSSLutheran Social Service of Minnesota will be the site of two events this fall which need Lord of Life volunteers.

September 11 - We will prepare and serve a Tuesdays Together dinner at the Center For Changing Lives (CFCL) at 24th and Park Ave. in Minneapolis. The meal will be prepared at Lord of Life and taken to the CFCL to be served to low-income clients and neighbors of LSS. Several people are needed to help prep, serve, and clean-up from about 2 to 8 pm. It will only take two or three helpers for prep, and others may join us at 4 pm to carpool for set-up, serving and clean-up. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with the Phillips neighborhood.

October 12-13 - We will hold a Children’s Clothing Sale for LSS clients. Gently used children’s clothing and new underwear and socks will be collected at church starting the week of September 24 and ending October 7. Donations may be placed in the marked bins in the Service Center. We had a wonderful response last year, and the client shoppers were thrilled with the nice clothes they could provide their children. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up at CFCL on Friday afternoon, and also for two shifts during the sale on Saturday, October 13 from 8 am to 3 pm.

Clothing for infants through high school sizes is needed. All sizes and both genders are needed, but special needs are: • Winterouterwear-snowpants,jackets,andboots • Sizes6-6Xforboysandgirls • Sizes14-16andupforboys • Newsocksandunderwear

As you clean out closets for the new school year, please think about LSS and the children who would love to wear your children’s gently used (or new) clothing.

Contact Sandy Munson at 763.416.4636 or [email protected] to volunteer for either of these opportunities.

Women’s Cancer Support

Group Meeting The Women’s Cancer Support Group will begin

their monthly meetings in September. Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at the Byerly’s Community Room in Maple Grove beginning at 7 pm. Due to Labor Day, the first meeting will be Monday, September 10. We will learn much from Nehemiah that we can apply to our own lives. In the Book of Nehemiah, God used a whole variety of ordinary people – people like you and me – to do remarkable things. When they all worked together as a community – as a team – amazing things happened.

Word for Women meets Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11 am, beginning September 12. Childcare is available. For more information or to register, please visit lordoflife.org/wordforwomen.

adult/outreach OWLs

PAST EVENTS:

Faith, Food, and Fellowship on July 12 “Birthdays…Yours, Mine and Ours”

by Joyce Martin

Every birthday party needs a cake! The OWLs divided up into their birth months then used their creativity and imagination to decorate the cake for their month. All twelve cakes were displayed in order for the group to select the best and worst!! “Happy Birthday” wishes were sung, and the cakes were enjoyed along with coffee.

OWLs Cruise the Mississippi by Joan Holmes

On July 19 the OWLs traveled to Boom Island for a cruise on the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis. As the Minnesota Queen traveled upriver, they enjoyed a lunch of sandwiches,

salad and desserts and listened to the captain tell about the industries along the Mississippi. Unfortunately for those sitting outside on the top deck, as the boat was sailing below the under-construction Lowry Street Bridge, the workmen decided to wash out the cement truck and grey watery liquid fell onto the boat hitting some of the OWLs. There were several Grey Spotted OWLs as the boat continued on the trip to the top of the falls and back to the dock.

Next stop was the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to see a photography collection showing the history of Minnesota sports. The docent was happy to have people who were actually old enough to remember many of the historical sites and famous Minnesota sports figures! A quick visit to see some religious art and to the Impressionist wing where they saw many famous paintings by Van Gogh, Manet, Degas and other familiar artists of that period. An interesting day!

FUTURE EVENTS: Thursday, September 6: Faith, Food, and Fellowship “Where were you on 9/11?” with guest Bob Munson sharing his experiences with the Red Cross. We begin at 10 am followed by a freewill donation lunch. Please bring new underwear or socks for children of all ages to be donated to Lutheran Social Service. Wednesday, September 19: Worship at 2 pm at Rose Arbor Assisted Living.Thursday, September 20: Train Ride and Museum of Woodcarving - How long has it been since you’ve ridden on a train? Join the OWLs on a fall day as we go to Spooner, WI for a historical excursion ride on a beautifully rebuilt train. On the return trip, we’ll visit the Museum of Woodcarving in Shell Lake, WI. It is the largest collection of woodcarving in the world that was created by one man, Joseph Barta. Biblical scenes are revealed chronologically. Leave Lord of Life at 8:30 am and return about 5 pm. $45 covers transportation, lunch and all admissions.

Friday, September 21: Service project at 9:30 am in Samaritan Hall, labeling LifeTIMES.

faith formationSunday Morning

GatheringAll new!Every Sunday morning, during the 9:45 and 11 am hours, jr. and sr. high youth are invited to come to The Gathering (the new Youth Room expansion) for an hour of great conversation, coffee, juice and donuts with Raul (jr. high youth minister), Elizabeth (sr. high youth minister), and Pastor Todd. We’re going to work our way through the year in 5-week cycles (matching those of our L5 calendar), having great conversation about what’s going on in the world and how our faith speaks to it, and looking at different books in the Bible. We’ll start the year off in September looking at the news of the world through a faith lens. Then in our second five weeks, we’re going to walk together through the book of Romans. After that, we’ll take on other important topics of life and faith.

We want this gathering time to be a place where together, we can seek, live and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sr. High Summer 2012—a Success! This summer, 70 of our youth participated in Lord of Life’s sr. high trips. We traveled to New Orleans for the ELCA Youth GatheringandtoKentuckyonAWOL(AWorkOfLove)towork with Habitat for Humanity in Louisville and Lexington. THANKYOUSOMUCHtotheyouthandadultswhomade these trips amazing and to our friends, family and the congregation for your love and support! God was truly present in all that we did this summer, and we couldn’t be more blessed to have had these opportunities. God is good!

“Stand By...”by Kaelie Lund

Nothing can describe the feelings whirling within me as the stage manager

whispered to Josiah and me mere moments before stepping out in front of 33,309 of our peers.

Fear? Yes. Terror? That was there, too. But excitement? Adrenaline-flowing, mind-numbing, fist-pumping excitement? That was most present.

Several weeks ago, July 18-22, I was given the opportunity to be one of many faces onstage at the ELCA Youth Gathering. I received the position as one of two emcees after sending in an audition video and receiving the “You got it!” call last Christmas, but never did I realize what “being an emcee” actually meant. To be an emcee means hours of preparing, at home, and in rehearsals for ten days in New Orleans. To be an emcee means memorizing re-writes forty-five minutes before going onstage, and re-blocking what seemed comfortable to what looks best on camera. To be an emcee also means sleep deprivation, a constantly changing rehearsal schedule, and scarfing down food between stage times--but really what being an emcee means is being given the opportunity to inspire a crowd of 36,000 youth and adults, high schoolers and parents and volunteers. Nothing else really matters.

For those ten days, I was surrounded by an amazing support system: the Emcee Manager, Steve, who kept track of Josiah and me; the Dome Creative team, 30 amazing individuals who kept the nights going smoothly; speakers, bands, and,

of course, Josiah, my other emcee and partner-in-crime. We talked together, prayed together, rehearsed together. The most powerful moment of the Gathering for me was the Sunday Send-off Service, when at the end both Josiah and I were crying onstage, and we wordlessly reached for each others’ hands: supporting each other until the very end.

Words cannot describe stepping out into the Superdome and having people cheer your name, nor can words describe the moment of realizing that we all are a part of something bigger. Sure, 36,000 is a whole lot of Lutherans, but we are only a piece of the pie, and if there is one thing I learned from my experiences in the Dome, it’s that one person can start changing something, and together, we can make a difference.

Be the change.

children youthfamilyTHANK YOU from Source

As the saying goes: “many hands make for light work.” Now, consider over 200 hands helping out at Source MN. These hands belonged to participants from Lord of Life’s Summer

Stretch program. As in prior years, individuals took a bus to south Minneapolis to help with clean-up, organizing and neighborhood outreach. A bus of junior high students, a few high school and college leaders, all from Lord of Life, arrived at Source on four different Wednesdays in late June and July and served for two hours each day. What an awesome blessing to have so many helpers!

I am a volunteer at Source as well as a member of Lord of Life. Source has a number of important ministries. One of these is to offer at-risk homeless youth a safe, Christian home, providing opportunities to get a job, a GED, and to learn the life skills they need to get off the streets and live independently. Source also opened a new facility – the Annex. The Annex provides safe, Christian housing and community for women who were able to get out of the sex trafficking trade.

If you are the proud parent of one of these Summer Stretch volunteers or you know some of these volunteers, ask them about their experiences and impressions of Source MN. We at Source would like to thank the volunteers and leadership at Lord of Life for their assistance and support.

See you at next year’s Summer Stretch!

Blessings, Chuck Denninger

Fourth graders may decide which group they would like to join. Rehearsals begin Thursday, September 6 with an open rehearsal and parent meeting. Parents are invited to stay and watch a 30-40 minute rehearsal and then attend the parent meeting.

This group will sing as a whole (grades 1-8) in church once a month and also be part of the Christmas Musical on Sunday, December 2. Auditions for parts/solos are Thursday, Sept. 20 from 5 to 8 pm. Other choir members make up the chorus. Find details at lordoflife.org/christmasmusical.

Club 56 Heads to Target FieldClub 56 is for any and all 5th and 6th graders and their friends!

September 21 is all about BASEBALL! Meet at Lord of Life for a baseball-themed dinner, baseball-themed devotions, and baseball-themed service project, then hop on the bus as we head to Target Field to take a private tour of the stadium. See inside the locker rooms, the dugouts, bullpens, press boxes, run the bases on the field and much more.

Bring your new or used sports equipment to donate to an organization called “Sports Gifts” that works hard to provide sports equipment to disadvantaged children. Children love sports, but for many owning a ball or other sports equipment is out of their reach. A new ball or other item can literally change the life of a child, giving them joy and hope. Check out sportsgift.org for more information.

We are really excited about the beginning of the confirmation ministry (C3) year at Lord of Life!

Every year we adapt the program a bit to make it more effective in faith formation for our young people. This year, with the new building being complete, we have a few more changes than usual to let you know about. We think the program this year is going to be fantastic!

We have a new schedule:

Sundays 5-6 pm: Dinner served in Fellowship Hall for anyone present (freewill donation accepted) 6-7 pm: Faith Formation Hour #1 7th & 8th graders meet in small groups 9th graders meet in Samaritan Hall for large group and then small groups 10th grade groups meet (for first 5-6 weeks) L5 courses available for parents Coffee and wi-fi available for parents in the commons areas

7-7:30 pm: Ecclesia in Samaritan Hall (devotional worship service)

7:30-8:30 pm: Other groups meet (L5, Leadership Team, Peer Ministry, etc.)

Our goals this year are to better form faith, develop leadership and strengthen the role of our ministry leaders. All of our C3ers will be blended into small groups to build relationships that are Christ-centered. Each small group will be led by an adult leader who will facilitate the faith-talk in each small group.

If you have any questions about the C3 program, please contact Pastor Todd or Gerad Remus.

The word Ecclesia is the singular form of a Latin noun that means simply, church. It was used to talk about “house churches,” small groups of believers who gathered in homes after the time of Jesus for worship, prayer and mutual support. At Lord of Life, Ecclesia is a gathering of believers who come together to experience God’s grace in a community as they grow in their faith.

7th Grade Festival!

The 7th Grade Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 8 from 10 am

to 2 pm. Lunch will be served. This is an orientation for 7th graders to learn all about

this new C3 experience. Meet your leader and the rest of the people in your small group. Play some games, get to know each other, and receive new Bibles. Please register online for the event at lordoflife.org/festivalreg. There is no cost, but we need to know that you are coming! Parents will have their orientation on the first night of C3 on Sunday, September 9 for Sunday groups and Wednesday, September 12 for Wednesday groups.

Sophomore Day AwayThe 10th grade retreat is Saturday, September 22. This is a required event for those being confirmed in October. Your small group may decide to participate in the new option of continuing to meet in your small groups instead of attending the retreat, or in addition to it if you want to do both. Everyone attending the retreat should be at Lord of Life at 8 am. We will spend the day at Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter. Lunch and dinner are included. We’ll return at 8 pm. During the day we will plan the Affirmation of Baptism service, write our Faith Statements, make plans for our continued involvement at Lord of Life, and have a great time with our small groups. Registration forms have been sent to you. Either complete the form and return it to Lord of Life or register online at lordoflife.org/sophomoredayaway.

7th and 8th Grade C3 RetreatsThe 7th and 8th grade C3ers attend a retreat as part of the requirements. A few options are available, but by far the most popular event is the retreat to Camp Onomia in Onamia, MN. This is an overnight retreat. You can learn all about it at lordoflife.org/c3retreats. The date for the 7th grade retreat is October 6-7. The 8th grade retreat is October 13-14. For those unable to attend the overnight retreat, there are other options. We offer a one-day retreat called C3 Saturday. There are three available dates for this retreat, December 1, February 2, and April 20. One more retreat option is a three-day trip to the Wisconsin Dells, called Youth Quake. The dates for Youth Quake are April 12-14. Please choose one of these events and register for it today. Information is available online regarding cost, schedules, packing lists, and what to expect.

1978 Lord of Life Lutheran Church Charter (ELCA)

Lord of Life is a community of people called together by God’s Holy Spirit who confess Christ as Lord. We wish to be a church whose door is open to all people. And with the guidance of the Holy Spirit we will strive to educate, comfort, aid and spread the word of love in Christ’s name. We believe worship is of most importance in our life together as we receive God’s love through Word and Sacrament. We will be involved with seeking justice in our community, state, nation and world. We hold high the dignity and worth of every human being as created in God’s image and forgiven in Christ. We hope to be a serving church, in the name of Him who came as Servant of all.
