What a great time of praise we had on Saturday night. I want to thank Scott for asking
his friends to come from Bowling Green to share with us. It was good to see so manyof you come to participate.
I also want to say thanks to all of you who took time to Fast and Pray this pastweekend. I hope that your time was well spent with the Lord and that he revealed toyou areas of your life that need some “shaking up.” If you would like to express to meanything about your fasting experience this weekend, e-mail me [email protected]. I would love to hear about what God is doing in you. I heardfrom several that said they felt that it wasn’t as difficult as they had perceived and feltthey would begin doing this more regularly in their private life. Praise God for yourgrowth.
As a reminder, our Wednesday night electives have begun. They meet from 6:30-7:30.Dave’s offering a study on 2 Corinthians on Wed. morning at 10 and each Wednesday
night; Norma is offering a ladies elective on Colossians and I am offering a variety of study options in the fellowship hall. I hope you will join us this week.
Our Life Groups meet on Sunday night and Tuesday night. “Not A Fan” meets Sundaynights at Dan and Janet Brown’s from 6-7:30. We had a great start yesterday. OnTuesday night’s, we are offering “Forgotten God”, which meets from 6:30-8:00 PM. If
you are not part of a group yet, I hope you will consider joining one of our growthstudies mentioned in this article.
Hospital policy… What I am about to write is for your information and is not a result of anyone
complaining. Frequently we have church members who have scheduled surgeries at ourlocal hospitals in Central Ohio. I am more than happy to visit you while underhospital care. However, I want to make you aware of my visitation policy. I will only visit you in the hospital if you personally let me know you are having surgery. Ido not want to find out “through the grapevine” or another staff person that you arehaving something done. I will assume if you want me to visit you that you will let meknow. Thanks for your understanding!

“But all things should be done decently and order.” I Corinthians 14:40
This verse is frequently used to explain why wdonʼt do certain things in worship or whsomeone else shouldnʼt do them. The “but”
the beginning of this verse tells us there important information before it that will clarify imeaning. To get that information you have look at all of chapters 12-14 which I obviousdonʼt have space to cover here so summarize.
Ch 12: All Christians are given Spirit driven giftnot all are the same, but all are important encouraging and growing the body of Christ.
Ch 13: Everything that we do must be reflection of our love for God and for others oris pointless and sinful.
Ch 14: Different gifts serve different functionbut when you meet together, gifts thencourage and strengthen the body as a whotake priority.
The church at Corinth had some issues in the
assembly, mostly because they had heaproblems. They were using spiritual gifts service to flesh. In pride they were becoming thobject of their own worship. This is why Patakes time for chapter 13 to discuss love abeing patient, kind, not envious, prideful, rude selfish and so on. When our heart is focused oserving God and serving others, our worship declaring Godʼs worth in our lives by living thoslives controlled not by flesh, but by His Spiwithin us.
When removed from its context, I Cor 14:40 is tool of control. Sadly, what Paul is trying teach us is to let the Spirit of God have controAfter all worship is really about surrendering seto serve God and serve others in love.
Lord help us to give you control and offer obodies as living sacrifice that you might havyour way in us. amen

We Have Added to the Children's Ministry
Last Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 10:09pm Hannah Joy Shady was born. She was 8 lb. 8oz. at birth and was 20.5 in. long. Baby and mommy are doing absolutely wonderfully, and we
appreciate the support and prayers everyone has offered for us already. It is comforting, andmuch easier, to go through such a huge transition as a family when we are plugged into achurch family like the one at Fifth Avenue. Hannah and Jessica look forward to seeing all of you this next Sunday.
In Christ's Love,Glen Shady
