PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Welcome to a new school year! This year we welcome back Mrs. Niekamp from her leave, and also welcome 12 new students and their families to our School Community! The much anticipated “new playground” is now a reality. A tremendous amount of money, time, work, and volunteer hours has gone into this project, and there can’t be enough thank yous dished out to all people involved. This new playground is an important improvement for our school and community as we move forward (and the students love it!). Coinciding with the installation of the new playground came the re-structuring of staff and student parking, as well as a new bus ramp. The main reason for these changes was regarding student safety. We no longer have traffic through our playground. We have tried our best to keep drop off and pick up the same. Signs will be coming to assist with that. Parents and guests will park in the front as in the past – nose in facing the school. A reminder to parents that bus students and High School students that have vehicles at school are dismissed at 3:25. All other students are dismissed at 3:30. If you are here to pick up your child at the end of the day, we ask that you stay outside or in your vehicle until the busses have left. Bus dismissal can get quite hectic, and having extra bodies in our bootroom and hallways adds to the confusion and anxiousness that some of our students experience. Muenster School Newsletter September 15, 2017 It’s not that we don’t want you in our building, but if you can avoid it between 3:20 and 3:30 that would be appreciated. As always, communication with the school and bus driver is much appreciated when there are changes to routine. Our SCC provided us with a Welcome Back Breakfast on Thursday, September 14. Thank you SCC, it was delicious!! We appreciate the time and effort you put into preparing and serving breakfast for us. Picture Day has already come and gone. Keep your eyes open for the proof packages. If there is anyone who missed out on pictures, you may contact Richard at his studio. He will be happy to accommodate you. Another reminder for parents is that it is very helpful for our secretary if you make the school aware of any absences. You may send a signed note, call the school and leave a message, or email the details ([email protected]). We are required to keep accurate records for absences. Thank you for your cooperation. Students, welcome back! May you have both a successful and enjoyable year. D. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Welcome to a new school year! This year we

welcome back Mrs. Niekamp from her leave,

and also welcome 12 new students and their

families to our School Community!

The much anticipated “new playground” is

now a reality. A tremendous amount of money,

time, work, and volunteer hours has gone into

this project, and there can’t be enough thank

yous dished out to all people involved. This

new playground is an important improvement

for our school and community as we move

forward (and the students love it!).

Coinciding with the installation of the new

playground came the re-structuring of staff

and student parking, as well as a new bus

ramp. The main reason for these changes was

regarding student safety. We no longer have

traffic through our playground. We have tried

our best to keep drop off and pick up the

same. Signs will be coming to assist with that.

Parents and guests will park in the front as in

the past – nose in facing the school.

A reminder to parents that bus students and

High School students that have vehicles at

school are dismissed at 3:25. All other students

are dismissed at 3:30.

If you are here to pick up your child at the end

of the day, we ask that you stay outside or in

your vehicle until the busses have left. Bus

dismissal can get quite hectic, and having extra

bodies in our bootroom and hallways adds to

the confusion and anxiousness that some of

our students experience.

but if you can avoid it between 3:20 and 3:30

that would be appreciated. As always,

communication with the school and bus driver

is much appreciated when there are changes to

routine.

Our SCC provided us with a Welcome Back

Breakfast on Thursday, September 14. Thank

you SCC, it was delicious!! We appreciate the

time and effort you put into preparing and

serving breakfast for us.

Picture Day has already come and gone. Keep

your eyes open for the proof packages. If there

is anyone who missed out on pictures, you may

contact Richard at his studio. He will be happy

to accommodate you.

helpful for our secretary if you make the school

aware of any absences. You may send a signed

Students, welcome back! May you have both a

KINDERGARTEN NEWS

The Kindergarten students are loving school! We

have already visited the library, met all the staff

members, played in the gym, toured the school, read

many books, played on the new playground,

practiced new routines, and had LOTS of fun! This

year we have 15 Kindergarten students: Brett,

Brittney, Chloe, Gretta, Hayven, Jace, Luke, Maci,

Maria, Melanie, Millie, Olivia, Reece, Teagan, and

Tuff.

We are going to have a great year!

GRADE THREE AND FOUR NEWS

Welcome back to all students and staff at our

awesome school! We’ve made it through the first,

crazy week of the school year and are settling into

new routines in the Grade 3/4 classroom. We have

started the year getting to know each other and

focusing on ourselves as well. In Health class, we are

writing name acrostic poems to display in our

classroom. We have charged full speed into our

Math units focused on numbers and are taking some

time to figure out our confusing world full of

continents in Social Studies. We are focusing on

writing good sentences and using the right

punctuation and have a read a humorous story

together called Three Easy Steps to Getting a Dog.

Our spelling groups have started up so watch for

new lists and test updates each week. Have a

wonderful month!

GRADE FIVE AND SIX NEWS

A Note About Library

This information is meant to assist you in your understanding of the library

and the policies therein.

1. Your child will have a regular library class with the librarian once

every week. This date is designated by the classroom teacher who

along with the librarian will recommend how many and what types

of books your child will be allowed to sign out.

2. If your child happens to damage a book, they will be expected to

discuss it with the librarian. If the damage is such that the book is

deemed unusable, your child will be expected to pay for the book.

In such a case you will receive written notice from the school.

3. If your child loses a library book they will be expected to pay for the

book before they are able to resume regular sign out privileges.

Again you will receive written notification in such a case.

Note: If you pay for a book and it reappears, we will be more than

happy to refund your money if you return the book within the

school year. If you have any concerns please contact me in the

library.

Tips for a successful year in the Library:

When students bring home books store them in a safe place so

younger siblings or pets do not damage them. It’s a good idea to

always keep them in the same place at home so the books do not

get lost.

Mark the calendar so everyone knows what day library class is and

when books are due back! If you don’t bring books back by library

day you cannot take out new ones

Treat books like a good friend. They are there for you and others to

enjoy!

Transport books in a backpack or plastic bag to keep them safe from

moisture.

Do not loan your books to friends. If they lose or damage the

books, the person who signed them out is responsible for them!

PLAYGROUND NEWS

We are super excited to say that the new playground has been installed, it took hard work

& dedication, but to see all those smiling faces made it all worthwhile!!! With One Stop

Playgrounds leading the way & with the help of numerous volunteers it did not take too

long for the new playground to be ready for the kids. We would like to thank everyone

who volunteered - food donations, lending a hand, lending equipment, everything was

greatly appreciated!!

Watch your child's agenda for the details & your invite to our ribbon cutting ceremony to

take place soon.

FCC Drive Away Hunger

Our school is participating in FCC Drive Away Hunger, which means we'll be collecting donations of food and cash for people in our area who are hungry. Because we're participating in this program, FCC will include our school in a draw for a $500 donation to be used to make improvements at the winning school. More information will be sent home next week with collection dates and suggested items to donate.
