Campaign Pledge Update

Dear Friends, The videos, pictures and news reports have been unfathomable as Hurricane (now tropical storm) Harvey has devastated Houston and southeast Texas. As I write this, rainfall in some areas has topped 50”. We’ve been praying for Becky’s aunt and uncle who live in the

greater Houston area and whose home was spared by the flooding.

Here are five things you can do to help:

1. Continue to pray for those whose lives have been affected by Harvey, for first responders, and for disaster coordinators/servants in the Texas, Louisiana, Rio Texas and Central Texas Conferences of the UMC.

2. Make relief kits and send to our relief-supply depot (http://www.umcor.org/UMCOR/Relief-Supplies/Relief-Supply-Kits/Cleaning).

3. Give to UMCOR’s relief and recovery efforts: Make your check payable to St. Andrew’s UMC and write U.S. Disaster Response, Advance #901670 on the memo line or envelope.

4. Donate only those items requested.

5. Please wait for an invitation to come and give hands-on service.

When you give to UM Committee on Relief (UMCOR), 100% of your gift goes to relief and recovery efforts, because administrative costs are paid through faithful support of connectional giving. UMCOR provides immediate relief and stays throughout the long-term recovery. Thank you for blessing others in their time of need.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jeff

St. Andrew’s Community Dinner Anniversary on Sunday, September 17

The September Community Dinner cele-brates our 16th anniversary. Our first Com-munity Dinner was held on September 16, 2001, less than a week after 9/11. Since then we have continued to offer a free Din-ner on the 3rd Sunday of every month without fail. Even in December 2007 with a level 3 snow alert and no church service, 20 members of the community came and were fed! Over those 16 years, St. An-drew's has provided 49,609 meals. Of that number, 25,513 meals were served to our guests from the community. In the following years, four other local churches stepped up also to provide a Community Dinner each month (1st Sun-day-First Lutheran, 2nd Sunday-First Pres-byterian, 4th Sunday-St. Paul's UMC, and when there is a 5th Sunday-Howard UMC). At our last Dinner we served 216 meals, 103 of these were to community guests and 40 of them came back for seconds. This menu is always a very popular one for the community since a cook-out is a novel-ty for them. Usually they don't experience grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, sweet corn, and lots of fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and other condiments for their sandwich-es. This month we are asking for donations of canned sliced peaches, fruit cocktail, and red powdered drink mix. Thanks to the fi-nancial generosity of the congregation, our Dinner Fund total is back up to a comforta-ble level.

Pastoral Care Ministry Leader St. Andrew’s UMC seeks a motivated, caring individual to give leadership in pastoral care ministry, particularly to seniors and other members who are hospitalized. In addition to visiting, this position will coordinate with lay caring ministry teams as well as guide follow up with

members not attending. Reports to Senior Pastor. Part-time compensation commensurate with experience. Send resume to church office at 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, OH 45840.

On August 27, Layla and Paislee Meisner, daughters of Chelsea Meisner and Derek Schumaker, were baptized in the 11:15am worship service. St. Andrew's promised to nurture the girls and

family in their faith and pray for them.
