EMS Continuing Education ALS & BLS Hands on Practical Evaluation 7 Hours Sunday Only

This course will provide 15 hours of Basic Refresher training for both First Responders and EMT-Basics, which is required for National Registry and KBEMS re-certification. The ALS & BLS classes will come together on

Sunday for an all day Practical evaluation in different check off stations.

Prerequisites: EMT – Basic Certification or EMT – First Responder Certification. Permission Form if Exp/Jr. FF

Instructor(s): MCEMS / Air Methods Firefighter Survival & Rescue - FRS 2052 (FC10000/FC20000) 15 hours Saturday & Sunday

This course is designed to help firefighters save themselves when trapped or involved in an impending flashover.

The course is required for Kentucky Firefighter Certification and upon successful completion of the course, 1.1

Hours of degree credit will be awarded for FRS 2052.

Equipment Needed: Full turnout gear including SCBA and PASS device

Prerequisites: Competent in the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Permission Form if Exp/Jr. FF

This course covers 16 of the 20 recommended hours for a new firefighter in Kentucky and offers both classroom

and hands-on training.

Live Burn (Fire Blaster) M0001 7 Hours Sunday This class will include both classroom and hands-on evolutions. This is a LIVE Fire Training Class. There are lots of things to learn with this prop.

Requirements: Full turnout gear, helmet, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and SCBA. Also need a live fire check sheet

signed by your Chief or a Chief Officer. : Completion of NFPA 1403 required components prior to enrolling; ”Live

Fire Course Competency Validation” form must be mailed in with payment. Students with facial hair impeding the

face piece seal will not be allowed to participate - NFPA Standards. Turnout Gear has to meet NFPA Standards (PPE

not older than 10 Years)

Propane Emergencies T0002 8 Hours Saturday Only This is a LIVE-FIRE, HANDS-ON course that helps the firefighter make informed decisions concerning propane

emergencies. The Bobtail Propane Prop will be used.

Equipment Needed: Full turnout gear and SCBA with PASS device and spare bottle. All turnout gear must be NFPA

compliant; students will not be allowed to participate if the instructors find that the gear is not NFPA compliant or

otherwise poses a hazard. SCBA bottles must have a current hydrostatic test date.

Prerequisite: Completion of NFPA 1403 required components prior to enrolling; ”Live Fire Course Competency

Validation” form must be mailed in with payment. Students with facial hair impeding the face piece seal will not

This Class will include both classroom and hands-on evaluations. This class will cover Tankers and pump operations

Requirements: Full Turnout gear or Coveralls, Helmet or hardhat, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and eye protection.

LIVE FIRE Course Competency Validation Form

Required for students participating in LIVE FIRE training

The 2012 edition of NFPA Standard 1403 requires that: “Students participating in a live fire

training evolution who have received the required minimum training from other than the

authority having jurisdiction shall not be permitted to participate in any live fire training evolution

without first presenting prior written evidence of having successfully completed the prescribed

minimum training to the level specified in 4.3.1.”

NFPA 1403 requires “student prerequisites” to permit participation in live fire training evolutions. These prerequisites are;

the prerequisites and may participate in the live fire training evolutions presented by SFRT.

You must be at least 18 years of age and a member of a Fire Department or an Industrial Fire Brigade

recognized by the Kentucky Fire Commission to participate in LIVE FIRE delivered by State Fire Rescue

Training. ID’s will be checked by SFRT instructors before allowing students to participate in the LIVE FIRE

training.

All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of the above referenced student is less than ten (10) years from

the date of manufacture.

SFRT requires that all students must be compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134;

Facepiece seal protection. “1910.134(g)(1)(i) -The employer shall not permit respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who have: 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A) - Facial hair that comes between the sealing surface

of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function;” (hair growth between the skin and the facepiece sealing surface, such as stubble beard growth, beard, mustache or sideburns which cross

the respirator sealing surface)

911 Ceremony

Located at: Flaherty Fire Station

The Meade County Fire Chiefs association would like to invite you to take part in the 15th

year anniversary of September 11th. This is a memorable experience for emergency service

workers to take time to remember the fallen emergency works on that tragic day. The fire

service has changed in so many ways in the past 15 years. Bringing emergency service

workers and communities together to show the support to services that lost members that

day. This time is also to reflect on the lives that have been lost since the attacks on

September 11th as well.

Ceremonial Parade starts at the Meade County Court House in Brandenburg. The Parade will

proceed to Flaherty Fire station on Hwy 144. After the parade we will have a small ceremony

at the Flaherty Fire Department Memorial garden located in the station park area.

Parade line up : 5:00PM - 6:00PM

Parade leaves Court House : 6:00PM.

Please come out and join us celebrate the life of so many who have give there's up to help

protect us.
