Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter Sept. 7 th – Sept. 10 th This Week’s Assignments Math – This week we will be working some more with factors and going a little deeper. Students will have a short multiplication timed test on Tuesday, and an End of the Unit Test on Friday over factors and story problems. Writing – Students will finish their “Listen to the Rain” writing project. Our focus this week will be looking at beautiful language, writing to describe, and writing that shows rather than tells. Spelling – I am looking over our spelling assessments the students took this week and working on putting them into groups. We will begin whole class sorts within the next couple of weeks. Reading – Our focus this week will while reading the book Because of Winn Dixie will be questioning, comparing and contrasting, and learning how to discuss our thoughts as a group. Students will also be working on responding to their reading in their logs. Science - We will wrap up our rocks and soil unit. Study Guide went home Thursday, Sept. 2 nd . Students should be studying nightly. Rocks and Soil Test will be Thursday, Sept. 9 th . We will wrap up our soil unit with a soil speaker on Wednesday. Reminders to Parents 1. Check and sign your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at school. Many students are not getting their assignment books signed. 2. Tuesday will be day 2 (Art). 3. Don’t forget to order your child’s class t-shirt ($7).
