Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter Sept. 26 th – Sept. 30 th This Week’s Assignments Math – Our focus this week will be number expressions. We will be working on translating words to number expressions, matching words and number expressions, and evaluating algebraic expressions. Be looking for homework nightly!! Writing – This week we will be talking about books sparking ideas for writing. Students will continue to work on their heart map narratives if they have not already finished and some will begin working on a new story. Reading – We have finished Winn-Dixie and students will begin new books in their reading groups. They will be working on flagging their thoughts, buddy reading, responding in their logs and discussing what they have read. Social Studies - We will continue our study of Missouri’s five regions and the rivers. Students will be completing a report about a particular region and we will be comparing and contrasting the Mississippi River and the Missouri River. Reminders to Parents 1. Check your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at school.
