SenVolSenior Volunteering in Europe
3rd Meeting
Who is a volunteer?
Volunteer is the one who continues to do things to occupy his time.
He is the one who gives with the freedom that his heart feels.
He is the one who encounters those who are less fortunate.
He is the one who never asks himself the question: "... but, is what I am doing making up for a deficiency of the state?"
VOLUNTEER is a person who is driven to act by the feeling of brotherhood, who responds to a need and a request for help that otherwise would not be answered.
What does volunteering mean?
Volunteering means giving an additional contribution to the Social Services, not replace it
Volunteering means taking a great trip “from I to We” through meeting with special people and places in contexts other than ordinary.
Volunteering means constitute a force of social pressure, because they are made all the structural reforms in the economic, legal, tax, without which the company will continue to produce marginalized.
What do volunteers need?
The Volunteers need to have a common passion for the cause of human beings and to build a better world.
The Volunteers need to work loose and free.
The gratuity is the distinctive element of voluntary action and makes it original compared to other components of the third sector and other forms of civic engagement.
They must be witnesses of solidarity.
They must advance proposals and projects involving as much as possible the population of a more livable society.
