SCOPE
The SENTRY Medium Pumper specification set out in this document was designed in accordance
with the requirements of the Emergency Services relative to a Medium Pumper.

All Industrial Fire & Hazard Control products are designed to meet the stringent requirements and
functionality standards set by the Emergency Management Services environment. All vehicles
manufactured by the company comply fully with the RSA Road Traffic Act of 1989, SABS Compulsory
and CKS 928 Specifications.
All Industrial Fire & Hazard Control units are manufactured offering the following due to material

Basic Vehicle & Equipment Specifications
The training program shall be spread over one (1) day and shall include theoretical/class room
sessions and practical sessions.
Additional extended and specialised training is available on request. All successful candidates
received a certificate on completion of the training.
CHASSIS CAB
The SENTRY, due to its modular concept and available configurations, is suited for the following chassis cabs: Isuzu MAN Mercedes Benz Scania Hino The chassis cab selection can either be 4x2 or 4x4; single cab or double cab.
AUTOMATIC LUBRICATION SYSTEM
One (1) RAASM Automatic Centralised Lubrication System shall be provided and fitted. The system shall offer the following advantages:
Improve the SENTRY’s performance through higher levels of productivity
Extend the operational life of the SENTRY
Reduce repair costs
Reduce maintenance costs and time
Avoids wastages in lubrication application
Ensures correct lubrication for each lube point
Ensures that difficult to reach lubrication points remain lubricated

The following manuals shall be provided with delivery of the apparatus:
Operator’s manuals of vehicle and all major components
Maintenance manual of vehicle and all major components
Spare parts manual for all major components excluding the chassis cab
Individual service book
STANDARDS
The complete vehicle will comply fully with the National Road Traffic Act, Act 93 of 1996 (as
amended) and the SANS/SABS compulsory standards as applicable for this category vehicle.

COMMISSIONING
The complete product shall be commissioned at the client’s facility and shall be validated against the Industrial Fire & Hazard Control SENTRY specification. Any variations between this specification and the specification as set out by the client shall be noted as an exception and the SENTRY specification shall take preference.
BUILD QUALITY
Quality and workmanship receive the highest level of attention at Industrial Fire & Hazard Control.
The Industrial Fire & Hazard Control Quality Assurance Program covers all aspects of production,
including procurement and stores/stock control.
WARRANTY

BULL BAR - OPTIONAL
One (1) polished stainless steel bull bar shall be provided fitted to the front of the chassis. The bull
bar shall be fitted with two (2) heavy duty tow eyes. The bull bar shall be secured to the chassis
frame members.
WINCH - OPTIONAL
One (1) 8,165kg electric reversible winch with 30m of 12.7mm galvanized aircraft type cable and a
replaceable clevis hook shall be mounted to the chassis frame extension centred at front bumper
area, and shall be controlled with a 9m remote control switch

MUDFLAPS
Black linear low density polyethylene (proprietary blend) mud flaps shall be installed on the rear body wheel wells.
REAR TOW EYES
Two (2) heavy duty tow eyes shall be provided at the rear of the superstructure. The tow eyes shall be securely fastened to the chassis frame members.
DOUBLE CAB - OPTIONAL
In the event that a factory fitted double cab is not supplied by the OEM, Industrial Fire and Hazard Control shall professionally extend the original single cab with a GRP manufactured double cab.
CREW SEATS - OPTIONAL
Four (4) forward facing crew seats shall be provided in the crew cab. The crew seats shall be fitted with SCBA approved seat belts. Each crew seat position shall be fitted with a SCBA bracket that shall be capable of holding a complete SCBA set. The SCBA seat shall be fitted with a rapid release lever
that shall immediately release the SCBA from the retaining bracket for donning.

SUPERSTRUCTURE
The manufacture and mounting process shall carry the approval of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The design of the SENTRY takes in account the harsh operating environments that the fire fighting vehicles are exposed to in Africa. The design of the SENTRY ensures an extended operating life in these harsh environments. Underbody Support System
The underbody support system shall form the backbone of the entire fire superstructure and shall provide extremely high compartment load ratings. The support system shall consist of a 9.5mm thick steel vertical angle support bolted to the chassis frame rails. Horizontal angles shall be gusseted and welded to the bottom of the vertical angles, extending to the outside edge of the body. Additional reinforcing shall be added for extra support. The compartments and tank shall be mounted using flexible rubber mountings.

Aluminium Construction
Aluminium shall be: 6061T6 6063T6 Thickness: 6mm, 4.5mm and 3mm and this shall be dependent on the required application. The apparatus compartments shall be constructed entirely of folded aluminium plates. All horizontal walkway surfaces shall be constructed from aluminium tread brite diamond plate. The wheel well frame shall be constructed from formed aluminium and shall be fitted with an aluminium wheel arch. The wheel arches shall be painted with non-chip paint to ensure an extended life span. The compartment roof shall be covered with aluminium diamond plate. The entire exterior body shall be completely sanded and deburred to assure a smooth finish prior to painting. The body shall have a body side protection rubrail along the length of the body on each side and at
the rear. The rubrail shall be constructed of aluminium extrusion. The rubrail shall extend beyond
the body width to protect compartment doors and the body side.

The rubrail shall be a 4mm thick anodized aluminium 6463T6 C-channel extrusion and shall allow marker and warning lights as well as reflective tape to be recessed inside the rub rail. The rear compartments shall have be angled to increase the angle of departure. Compartment Steps
Steps shall be built into the body of the front through compartment. These steps shall allow for full access of the through compartment. A grab handle shall be provided for ease of access and for safety.
ACCESS LADDER

An auxiliary stainless steel access ladder shall be provided at the rear of the body for access to the deck. The ladder shall have a lower hinged section that shall be stored when not in use. Each ladder rung shall be fitted with aluminium non slip plate to ensure a non-slip surface when using the ladder. A stainless steel grab handle shall be fitted to the deck at the rear to assist in accessing the vehicle deck from the ladder.
COMPARTMENTS
Front
One (1) full through compartment shall be provided behind the cab, ahead of the tank. The
compartment shall be fitted with an adjustable shelf.

Sides – Rear
Two (2) compartments shall be provided at the rear, behind the rear wheels, one (1) either side. The
rear compartments shall house the hose reels. The compartment shall be fitted with one (1) fixed
shelf.
Rear
One pump compartment shall be provided at the rear.
All body compartments shall be constructed from welded aluminium alloy plate.

Compartment floors shall be constructed of aluminium fire apparatus quality tread brite plate
welded in place.
A drain hole shall be provided in each compartment floor.
A grommet shall be fitted around all electrical wiring to prevent the ingress of dust.
An anodized aluminium drip rail shall be mounted over each compartment opening to assist with
water runoff.
Roll-Up Doors
The side compartments shall be fitted with Millbro Manufacturing roll up doors. The door slats shall
be double wall box frame and manufactured from anodized aluminium. The slats shall have
interlocking end shoes on each slat. The slats shall have interlocking joints with a PVC/vinyl inner
seal to prevent any metal to metal contact and inhibit moisture and dust penetration.
The track shall be anodized aluminium with a finishing flange incorporated to provide a finished look
around the perimeter of the door without additional trim or caulking. The track shall have a
replaceable side seal to prevent water and dust from entering the compartment.
The doors shall be counterbalanced for ease in operation. A full width latch bar shall be operable
with one hand, even with heavy gloves. Securing method shall be a positive latch device.
The doors shall be fitted with a micro switch that shall energise a red warning lamp in the cab when
the door is not in a fully closed position.

All roll-up doors shall be provided with a locking mechanism and (2) keys for the side compartment
doors.
WATER TANK
The booster tank shall be rectangular in configuration and shall have a capacity of 6000 litres. The entire tank shall be constructed from welded stainless steel sheets. The tanks shall be designed in accordance with recognized international standards. Baffles shall be supplied and fitted. The tank shall feature a square combination vent and manual fill tower of dimensions 450mm x 450mm with cover. The tower shall be located in the right front corner of the tank. The tank overflow shall be 100mm diameter and shall dump behind the rear wheels to permit maximum traction. There shall be two (2) standard tank openings; one for the tank to pump suction line with an anti-swirl plate and one for a tank fill/drain line. The tank shall be mounted on hard rubber cushions to isolate the tank from road shock and vibration. The tank shall be completely removable without disturbing or dismounting the apparatus body structure.
Water Tank Level Gauge There shall be an electronic level gauge supplied which shall monitor the water tank content. Plumbing The plumbing shall be manufactured from schedule 10 stainless steel 304 piping with 316 stainless steel elbows. Tank fill Two (2) 65mm hydrant direct tank fill valves with controls shall be installed, one (1) either side. The tank fills shall be fitted with a 65mm ball valves. Tank-To-Pump Suction One (1) 75 mm ball valve shall be installed between the pump suction and the booster tank in order to pump water from the tank.
FOAM TANK

All fabricated piping shall be stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance and decreased friction loss.
FOAM TANK
One (1) 100 litre Class A or Class B foam tank shall be provided. The foam tank shall be piped to the
ATP with stainless steel and flexible piping.
Industrial Fire & Hazard Control suggests the following foam for the different applications:
Class A Ansul Silv-ex Plus
Class B Hydral 3C AFFF
PUMP
The SENTRY shall be fitted with a multi stage centrifugal pump for maximum affectivity and
performance.

A pump control panel shall be provided and shall consist of the following gauges and controls:
One (1) 64 mm master discharge gauge.
One (1) high pressure gauge.

One (1) Oil pressure gauge.
One (1) Water temperature gauge.
One (1) Voltmeter
One (1) vernier throttle shall be mounted on the pump operator's panel and shall be used to control the engine RPM.
One (1) pneumatic switch to operate the tank top pump valve
One (1) “PTO engaged” light
One (1) electronic water tank level gauge
One (1) electronic foam tank level gauge
FOAM SYSTEM
The pump shall be fitted with an Around-The-Pump-Foam Proportioning System. The system shall
be capable of educting foam from the foam tank from 1% through 6%.
PUMP ACCESSORIES
The following accessories shall be supplied with the pumps:
1 x suction blank cap
2 x 3m suction hoses with aluminium suction couplings
1 x aluminium suction strainer
1 x set suction spanners
HOSE REELS
Two (2) electric rewind hose reels with manual override, complete with 30m x 25 mm high pressure hose, terminating in a Protek Style 361pistol grip adjustable nozzle shall be fitted in the rear side compartment, one each side. The nozzle shall be adjustable from straight stream to full fog. Flow Range: 125 to 257lpm The reels shall be coupled to the high pressure side of the pump. Each reel shall be supplied with chrome guide rollers to allow for ease of rewinding and to protect the superstructure and paint work when using the hose on the reel. The hose reel shall be supplied with a manual braking device.

WARNING SYSTEM AND ELECTRICAL
A warning system complying with the SABS / SANS requirements shall be fitted to the vehicle. The
warning system shall comprise of the following:
One (1) Model SR1218 – 1.2m GENIV LED lightbar – red
One (1) Model PA100SP – 100watt P.A. siren amplifier with illuminating split controller with
lightbar patter and function indicator
One (1) Model CS100SD – 100watt 11ohm die cast siren speaker driver
Ten (10) Model R65 self-contained panel mount LED red flasher. The flashers shall be
mounted as follows:
o Two (2) in the front grill
o Two (2) at the rear
o Six (6) on either side
All electrical equipment installed shall conform to current automotive electrical system standard
All exposed wiring shall be run in a loom. All wiring looms shall be properly supported and attached
to body members along the entire run. At any point where wire or looms must pass through metal,
rubber grommets shall be installed to protect the wire from abrasion.
Electrical connections in exposed areas shall be made using heat shrink or weather proof
connections. All circuits shall be protected with automatic reset circuit breakers.
All electrical equipment switches shall be mounted on a switch panel mounted in the cab
convenient to the operator. Light switches shall be of the rocker type with integral indicator light to
show when the circuit is energised.
All switches shall be appropriately identified as to function.

Compartment Lighting There shall be one LED light stream fitted to each body compartment. Each light shall be in a resilient shock-absorbent mount. There shall be a compartment light with a switch installed to illuminate the pump area for service.
Step Lights
The SENTRY shall have sufficient lights to properly illuminate the work areas, steps, walkways and
ground areas around the apparatus.
Pump Panel Lights
LED working lights shall be provided above the pump panel to illuminate the working area during
pumping operations.
Deck Lights
Two (2) 150mm 12-volt deck lights shall be installed at the rear of the apparatus. Each light shall be
manually operated at the light.
Telescopic Lightmast
One (1) TF pneumatically operated lightmast shall be provided and fitted to the left front of the
vehicle in the front through compartment. The lightmast head shall be fitted with 4 x LED lights.
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
The following equipment is provided as standard with the SENTRY:
1 x 7,4m two extension ladder with a ladder gantry
PAINT & SIGNAGE
All chassis exterior components such as mirrors and bumpers shall be removed prior to the finish procedure. The paint process shall feature acrylic urethane products and shall be performed in the following steps:
1. Filler Primer shall be applied to guarantee smooth sub-straight to provide good enamel hold-out of the top coat
2. A lead free, two part acrylic urethane enamel top coat shall be applied, providing excellent coverage and durability. A minimum of two coats shall be applied.

The vehicle shall be finished in RAL 3000 Red. Signwriting Signwriting shall be applied in accordance with the client’s requirements.
The rear of the superstructure shall be covered with a chevron. The recommended tyre pressure labels shall be placed above each wheel.
