How Lancaster county was settled

• About 300 years ago, there was a small Amish community that arrived here from Europe, and settled in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. They arrived here during the time when William Penn was promoting religious and cultural freedom.

• The village I live in: Bowmansville

Likes and dislikes

• Likes: there are a lot of trees where I live, there is a creek and there is a pond, and big fields.

• Dislikes: in my development there are houses being built so there is a lot of noise, and sometimes there is trash by the creek and graffiti sometimes written on the bridge.

Weather patterns

• In the winter the average low is 21 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average high is about 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

• In the fall, the average high is about 67 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average low is about 53 degrees Fahrenheit.

• In the spring, the average high is about 72 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is about 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

• In the summer, the average high is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is about 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

The environment

• 3 native birds: bald eagle, hawk, blue heron• 3 native mammals: white tailed deer, black bear, cottontail

Home Life

• The water in my home comes from a well.• We have “public sewage” and the sewage goes to

Brecknock Township sewage plant. When it goes to he sewage plant, it gets filtered out.

• Our recycling and our trash gets picked up by Goods recycling truck. The trash goes to the garbage dumb after it gets picked up.

• We reside in the Chesapeake water shed and it feeds into the Chesapeake bay.

• Three habitats around our home is the woods, the creek, and a field.

• We put out bird feed for the birds

• 5 favorite foods: spaghetti, cheeseburger, strawberries, tacos, red beets

• spaghetti comes from wheat and originates from Italy.• Cheeseburgers come from cows.• Strawberries grow I the ground from seeds.• Taco meat come from cows.• Red beets grow in the ground.

environmentally friendly/not friendly

• Some environmentally friendly things I do are : recycling, I usually don’t have a lot of trash,

• Some not so very environmentally friendly things I do: I leave the TV on a lot when I leave the room, I use a lot of running water,

• What I can do to change the not environmentally friendly things I have a habit of doing, is try to turn off the TV when leaving a room, turn off the running water when I brush my teeth,
