VentureWeb is an Award Winning Digital Marketing Agency, based in Squamish BC. We are a small team of passionate adventurers who ride boards and bikes, scale mountains and play outside. Location SquamishThe fact that our Studio is located in Squamish, BC – wedged between Vancouver’s new media hub and Whistler’s world-famous stomping grounds—is no coincidence. The appreciation we have for living here motivates us to drill to the core of our clients’ business with the same enthusiasm. As a small, dynamic team we tailor our solutions to each individual client, and focus intensely on select projects. Rather than short term contracts we focus on long term relationships that allow us to make the biggest impact. We both live and work in the community we serve, believing strongly in the strength of collaboration and social responsibility.

The RoleLike all roles at VentureWeb this role will be varied and fast paced. You must be able to wear multiple hats and contribute to multiple projects concurrently. You will be working under tight timelines with your devel-opment, as well as writing specs and scopes, liaising with clients, PM, internal team marketing, design and UX. As a senior team member you will ensure that expecations are met (timeline and budget) as this role is instrumental to the success of VentureWeb. The successful individual will also contribute to the growth of VentureWeb by creating innovative product solutions and by constantly striving to deliver the best possible experience for our clients!

Our office environment is relaxed and informal - you’ll have your very own workstation (Mac or PC), potted-plant, and access to legit coffee and tea.

Knowledge Building: Travel to, Accommodation for and Attendance at one work-related conference each year. You get to choosethe conference that interests you most. All we ask is a short presentation to the rest of the team over lunchupon your return.

Flexibility:We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, and we understand that some people are productive atdifferent times of the day than others. We’re happy to accommodate your work habits with the caveat thatyou make yourself available for our weekly status meetings and any scheduled meetings throughout theweek.

Winter and Summer Retreats: Typically twice a year, the whole company packs up with their families for a weekend away and a chance tounwind. Think cat skiing in the Selkirks or slaying Chilcotin single track on your mountain bike.



Your Day to Day Responsibilities:

Working as part of a team in all aspects of projects:

» Planning, scoping and documenting projects

» Meetings with clients and internal teams

» Maintaining site code and website wellness

» Identifying opportunities for growth and improvement of existing client solutions

» Working with our marketing, design and UX teams to continually improve performance

» Writing code that adheres to best practices, is understandable and is efficient

» Participation in the wider team

Be a leader in our development team:

» Guide development practices

» Support junior developers as required

» Keep up to date with trends and technologies

» Share technical knowledge with our design, marketing and management teams as required

The Candidate must be able to demonstrate:

» Comprehensive experience with Magento

» Solid PHP/MySQL knowledge

» Theme Development/Programming

» GIT - knowledge and experience of using GIT

» A strong desire to invest in personal development

» A commitment to keeping up with what’s new in your areas of expertise

Nice-to-haves:

» Drupal and or Symphony experience

» Shopify Development Experience with API and/or the theme layer

» Javascript Programming - Backbone, Angular, React

» Front End Programming with HTML and CSS (and SASS)

» Experience with Apache Solr, Varnish, Redis or Cloudflare

» Experience using the Pantheon hosting platform
