Practice

• You need to be at CHS by 8:00 a.m.

• All seniors must ride bus to and from graduation practice

• Graduation Tickets will be distributed after practice that morning on the bus

• Unlimited guest seating on the lawn

If you have to make up hours, do them early.

Attendance•Attendance is Extremely Important!

•You must be in attendance 90% of the allotted time in order to receive credit.

Attendance

• If you exceed 10% absence, you must complete an attendance agreement with your AP and make up hours in order to regain credit.

• If you miss more than 25% of a class, you will be denied credit for that class and will not be able to make up hours to regain that credit. This is State Law.

Attendance Appeal Committee

• Must fill out appeal form and attend meeting in order to appeal any denied credit.

• Appeal forms due to Mr. Harris in the Tiger Den by 2:35 p.m. on April 24, 2019

• If in doubt, please see your AP – ASAP!

Exemptions: Spring

• Must have taken a Fall final exam at CHS to exempt in the Spring

• • 4 or fewer absences for the semester with a 90 average or greater

• 3 or fewer absences for the semester with an 80 average or greater

• • Three tardies = 1 absence for exemption purposes

• • Present in class on the day of the final

• • Completed Exam Exemption Form on file

• Discipline: No ISS, OSS, DAEP or JJAEP for the year

• All fines, textbooks, fees, fund‐raising, uniform, etc. records must be cleared

Exemptions: Spring

• The following absences do NOT count

• HCP – Doctor’s visit during part of the school day, in class the rest of the day

• FRL – Funeral attendance for close relative

• REL – Religious Holiday

• EC – UIL‐sanctioned competition

• FT – School‐sponsored field trips

• Attendance for transfer students will include their attendance and absences at their prior school

• College visitation days DO NOT count unless you do not have the required documentation (See your AP for documentation)

Graduation Speech

• Speakers Needed!• Top 10%• Application process – finalists will be chosen

for two categories (Class Speech and Our Thanks Speech).

• Application will be made available in the Tiger den

• Window is open now! Application packets are due April 12, 2019.

• Each speech submitted will be judged by a committee of staff members.

• Finalists will be chosen and asked to give their speech before the committee.

• Two will be chosen (one from each category) to give their speech at graduation.

PROMImportant Information

• Theme: Diamonds are Forever

• Location: Lone Star Convention Center

• Friday, May 10, 2019, at 8:00 p.m.

• Tickets - $75.00. Tickets sales during all lunches May 6 – 9, 2019. All fees and fines must be settled before purchasing a prom ticket.

• Seniors need to pick up the permission form in order to leave school early on the day of Prom. ONLY SENIORS WHO PURCHASED PROM TICKETS MAY LEAVE!!!!!

• Guests may not be younger than a freshman in high school or no older than 20 years of age.You may apply for special exemption to this rule with the principal or her designee. You need to sign up for an interview in the Tiger Den with Mrs. Lindley no later than Monday, April 29th.

PROM

• Dress Code – See Prom Expectations for Dress Code. • No backpacks or large purses will be allowed. Administration reserves the right to

search all bags/purses.

• Attendance – Must have school ID and present it to school officials. Guests must also have their school ID or valid driver’s license. Out of school guests will be pre-approved by the principal or designee by appointment only. Guest registration forms may be picked up from the Tiger Den.

• Students who are currently suspended, assigned to ISS, DAEP, or expelled at the time of the dance are not allowed to attend.

• All students are to remain at the prom. Anyone who leaves the prom will not be allowed to return and must leave the premises.

PROM

• Behavior – All school rules and expectations are enforced during the prom. Out of school guests must adhere to CHS school rules and CISD policies.• There are no refunds for anyone who leaves the dance or is removed by a

school district employee. • CHS is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items during the

prom; this includes but is not limited to personal property and vehicles.• Any disciplinary infractions or removal from prom could result in non-

participation in graduation activities.
