Growing up together and de-bating together, seniors Morgan Schwing and Zachary Drab-czyk will speak at commence-ment tonight at the L.C. Walker Arena at 8.

Schwing, who is also the se-nior class president and active member of many extra-curricu-lar programs at Shores, decided she wanted to add commence-ment speaker to the list.

“I thought (speaking at commencement) would be a cool thing to do senior year,” Schwing said. “I wanted to do it because debaters have spo-ken in the past, and I also like talking to people.”

Deciding to focus on brav-ery, Schwing has been ardently preparing her message for her fellow classmates.

“I originally was focused on the future,” Schwing admits, “but after talking to (English teacher Roxanne) Schaner, I

narrowed my message down to bravery. I want to urge seniors to be brave as we go forth into the future. Anything is possi-ble; you just have to be brave.”

Fellow speaker Drabczyk decided to audition for much of the same reason as Schwing, but Drabczyk will be focusing more on responsibility.

“I felt like (speaking) would be a good experience because I want to represent my class,” Drabczyk said. “My speech is mostly about the future and re-

sponsibility, complete with Spi-der-Man reference.”

Both Schwing and Drabczyk were enthusiastic about speak-ing together.

“It’s fun to be doing this with Zak because we are friends and we were in debate together,” Schwing said.

Agreeing with Schwing, Drabczyk said it was really great to be doing this together because they were partners in debate, so it feels good to be speaking along with her.
