Awarded Excellence in Achievement Award, by The Board Room magazine, in 1999 and 2000, becoming their first two-time golf course architect winner. Dramatically reduced firm liability for errors and omissions. Successfully completed construction administration for more than twenty projects in 2009. Professional Experience: July 2006-March 2010 THOMPSON DYKE & ASSOCIATES, LTD. Chicago, IL VICE PRESIDENT Senior landscape architect/manager in the design studio for a twenty person landscape architecture, urban planning, and design firm. Dramatically reduced the firm's errors and omissions claims through design review of projects during design phase, effective construction administration, and improved relations with clients. Successfully completed the permitting and construction administration for more than twenty projects in 2009, including the award-winning major renovation of the landmark Buckingham Fountain, seven artificial turf fields, several small parks, playgrounds, and other projects. Carried out the majority of the land planning for a dramatic river-front 950 acre mixed-use project in Michigan, which includes golf, single family and multi-family residential, retail, and resort components. 1988-July 2006 BURNS GOLF DESIGN Fernandina Beach, FL GOLF COURSE ARCHITECT/P RINCIPAL Owner and principal designer, responsible for most of the design and construction administration work as well as the management of the firm. Designed high quality, award-winning golf courses, despite working with generally modest construction budgets. Awarded both a 1999 and a 2000 Excellence in Achievement Award, by The Board Room magazine, becoming their first two-time golf course architect winner. Created the firm’s highly successful web site, which ranked very high on search engines, and generated many design inquiries and compliments. 1981-1988 FAZIO GOLF COURSE DESIGNERS, INC. Jupiter, FL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATE Worked more than five years as a full-time field representative for the firm. The firm’s drawings were only used as a general reference in the field; therefore, most of the actual golf course design work was done in the field. This included directing the clearing of the property, production o f grading plans, drainage design, and most of the actual design of the golf course. Directed six highly rated projects, completing them in a timely fashion at reasonable cost. Responsible for most of the design for those projects, including clearing, grading, drainage, grassing, and landscaping. Directed portions of the work at four additional projects. Worked closely with owners representatives, engineers, and land planners to successfully design and integrate project drainage systems and coordinate simultaneous golf course and residential development. Installed drainage, shaped portions of golf holes, and finish-graded portions of golf holes, utilizing bulldozers, backhoes, tractors, and other construction equipment.
