Sending A Message
Cinderella was notified of the ball by a messenger.
However, this alerted her sisters to the ball as well.
Imagine if Cinderella could have received her letter in another way. Maybe then, her sister wouldn’t have known about the ball, and she wouldn’t have had to spend so much time getting them ready.
Can you create a method of sending a message
across the room?
The Rule of the ChallengeUse your imagination to design a delivery
system that gets messages from one side of the room to the other.
You can't throw your message to the other team, and you can't just get up and walk over with it.
Use materials provided to you to build your message delivery system.
Materials include: straws, string, rubber bands, paperclips and tape!
Challenge!First, you have a few minutes to write or draw an
idea down.
Now, find your partner! You will have 5 minutes to share your ideas while materials are passed out.
GO!Work with your partner to design a tool to get
your message to the other side of the room!
Be sure to work quietly so all teams can think!
FIVE MINUTES LEFTYou have 5 minutes left to work.
Begin thinking about your tool…
To Conclude…Compare designs.
What advantages does each design have?
Can you improve on your design, or make a new one?
