INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT SNAKES The only places where the snakes cannot be found are the continent of

Antarctica, the Arctic circle and high mountainous terrain, where ground remains frozen all the year round.

Snake Island or Ilha da Queimada Grande is one of the most inhospitable islands in the world contains the largest concentrated population of snakes in the world.

According to many studies, most (about 2/3rd) of the snake bites in Malaysia are due to the Malaysian pit viper bites and about 75% of these cases are confined to the northern states of Perlis, Kedah and Penang.

King cobra snakes can hear, but they are deaf to ambient noises. The snake charmer gets the king cobra's attention by the shape and movement of the flute and not the actual music itself.

The long nosed vine snake is a highly advanced arboreal predator because it has excellent binocular vision. Its eyes are unusual in having horizontal, keyhole-shaped pupils which allows it to strike at prey with great accuracy.

The longest snake is the Reticulated Python ; it can grow up to 10.05 meters or 33 feet long. The thickest snake is the Anaconda; the biggest one found measured 111 centimeters or 44 inches around.

The smallest snake may be the Martinique thread snake (Leptotyphlops bilineatus), which does not grow any bigger than 4 1/4 inches.

Many Zookeepers believe that Cobras are faster learners than other snakes. They are able to tell the difference between their trainer and strangers.

Inland Taipan-It is considered as the most venomous snake in the world with the median lethal dose for the venom is 0.025 mg/kg. The amount of venom this snake injects into its prey, in a single bite, is enough to kill around a hundred adult humans.

The swiftest snake on land is the black mamba, a notorious African monster that can reach speeds of up to 12 miles per hour. And they're amongst the most deadly too.

The Thread snake is the smallest snake. It is only about 10 centimeters (4 inches long) and the size of a toothpick.

The common egg eater (Dasypeltis scabra) is a highly specialized snake. Although it is not venomous, the markings are sufficiently similar to those of the deadly cobra or viper that a potential predator will think twice before attacking.

Flying snakes of southeast Asia-They are, however, accomplished gliders ; they are even better gliders than flying squirrels.

The Hognose, Grass snake and the Spitting Cobra will fake death when feeling threatened. They flip into their backs, open their mouths, and let their tongue flop out. And they will let out some smelly stuff from their anal gland.

view that it is haraam to eat snakes. • For medicine become lawful only

when:1. The medicine containing haram

ingredients must be necessary for the life of the person who takes it.

2. A knowledgeable and trustworthy Muslim physician should recommend such type of medicine.

3. The person is not allowed to take this particular type of medicine while there are other lawful medicines available.”
