    INTRODUCTION

Amazing solution for those who had lost their voice butwish to speak over phone.

Developed at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology,Germany.

Detects every lip movement and Internally converts theelectrical pulses into sounds signals and sends themneglecting all other surrounding noise.

Tell confidential information over phone without othershearing it.

Allows you to communicate to any person in the world asthe electrical pulse is universal and can be converted intoany language depending upon your choice.

Expected in the next 5 - 10 years. Once launched, willhave a drastic effect and with no doubt, will be widely

    used.

    NEED FOR SILENT SOUND

An end to embarrassed situations such as:

A person answering his silent, but vibrating cellphone in a meeting, lecture or performance, and

whispering loudly, I cant talk to you right now . In the case of an urgent call, apologetically

rushing out of the room in order to answer or callthe person back.

    METHODS

Two Methods for using Silent SoundTechnology 1. Electromyography

Monitoring tiny muscular movements that occur whenwe speak.

Signals are converted into electrical pulses that canthen be turned into speech, without a sound uttered.

    2. Image ProcessingConverting digital data tape into a film image with

    minimal corrections and calibrations.

Large mainframe computers employed forsophisticated interactive manipulation of the data.

    IMAGE PROCESSING

Image processing is a physical process used to convert animage signal into a physical image. The image signal can beeither digital or analog. The actual output itself can be an actual physical image or

the characteristics of an image.converts the digital data tape into a film image withminimal corrections and calibrations. Then large mainframe computers are employed for

sophisticated interactive manipulation of the data. Most image-processing techniques involve treating theimage as a two-dimensional signal and applying standardsignal-processing techniques to it.

Analysis of remotely sensed data is done using variousimage processing techniques and methods that includes:

Analog image processing- Analog processingtechniques are applied to hard copy data such asphotographs or printouts. It adopts certain elements ofinterpretation, such as primary element, spatial arrangementetc.,

Digital image processing - It is the use of computeralgorithms to perform image processing on digital images inthe form of multi dimensional systems.

    ANALOG IMAGE PROCESSING

Analog processing techniques are applied to hard copysuch as photos and print outs.

It includes optical photogrammetric techniques allowing

for precise measurement of height, width, location etc.

    Elements of image interpretation:

Primary elements: black and white tone, colour tone andstereoscopic paralax.Spatial arrangement of tone: size, shape, texture pattern.

    DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING

It involves use of computer algorithms for the manipulationof digital images.Digital image processing is more advantageous than analogimage processing because it allows wider range of algorithms

to be applied for i/p data. This avoids problems of build up of noise and signaldistortion.Digital image consists of discrete picture elements called aspixels. Each pixel is represented as a digital number that depictsthe average radiance of small area within the scene.Range of pixels is 0-255 and as the pixel size reduces, morescene detail is preserved in digital representation.

    APPLICATIONS

Helping people who have lost their voice dueto illness or accident.

Telling a trusted friend your PIN number overthe phone without anyone eavesdropping assuming no lip-readers are around.

Silent Sound Techniques is applied in Military

    for communicating secret/confidentialmatters to others.

    RESTRICTIONS

Translation into majority of languages but forlanguages such as Chinese different toneholds different meaning, facial movements

being the same. Hence this technology isdifficult to apply in such situations.

From security point of view recognizing whoyou are talking to gets complicated.

Even differentiating between people andemotions cannot be done. This means youwill always feel you are talking to a robot.
