Amritsar, February 26The Department of History, Travel and Tourism of DAVCollege organised a one-day international seminar on‘Partition 1947: Voices of the People’ in collaborationwith Partition Archive 1947, University of California,Berkeley.
Dr Guneeta Bhalla, who is the founder and director ofthe 1947 Partition Archive at the University ofCalifornia, was the chief guest at the seminar.
She said Partition Archives was an oral historyprogramme with a purpose to conduct interviews of the people who witnessedthe Partition. Dr SS Sohal from Guru Nanak Dev University was the keynotespeaker of the seminar.
Two eyewitnesses of the events that took place during the Partition werepresented in the seminar. The witnesses, Dr Lakhanpal and AdvocateSudarshan Kapoor, were the guest of honours.
They shared their personal experiences related to the Partition with theaudience. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar welcomed all guests and dignitaries whocame to attend the seminar from different institutions and universities.
Historians Dr Joginder Singh, Dr Raj Kumar Hans, Dr Bhupinder Singh(DEO) , Dr Amandeep Bal, Dr Baljit Singh, Dr Manjinder Singh, Prof MunishSingh, Prof Babusha presented their papers and discussed different aspects
