Part of Statoil Technical Efficiency Programme (STEP) initiative to reduce cost in LCI*)

• Establish efficient and standardized methods and tools for standard equipment documentation

• Enable reuse of standard documentation

• Realize delivery of documentation for standard equipment according new LCI requirement

SEMI project outcome


• Launched the SEMI portal as a tool to handle standard equipmentwith standard documentation

• Implemented SEMI in LCI Solution in Statoil

• Established documentation in SEMI for selected Frame Agreements

• SEMI used in LCI solution will streamline the flow of all standard equipment documentation

• Enabling potential for reuse of documentation in every project for the same equipment

Training and implementation

• The main training method is a 2 hour presentation to relevant users followed by on-the-job training (self-driven) with SEMI user manual online

• Train the trainers who take over this task when the SEMI project is completed and demobilised

SEMI - Content and QC responsibility

• Selected frame agreements (FA) product list with documentation is delivered from manufacturer to SEMI and checked and approved by Statoil FA responsible

• Contractor is responsible to establish, check and approve documentation in project,and if not in SEMI for project standard equipment - establish it

• Manufacturers can be granted access to SEMI and deliver their documentation in SEMI for contractor’s approval

• Approved models with documents represented by a SEMI id can be used in delivery on all tag using same equipment in any project

• Contractor is responsible to check model/variants and documentation when reusing approved documents from other projects

• Statoil internal users will by default be given a role «Statoil - operator» to read all

• External users apply and will get access to their company or projects scope

• Mobil phone is essential for external access due to required SMS code for login

SEMI - Create new Manufacturer Model


• To add a new model use the “Upload documentation” function

• Type in Manufacturer and select in list

• Enter model and press the “Look up model”

• If new it will be presentedas not yet documented

• Press to create

• Add Model description, Category and Typeand press “Continue” to create the new model

• New model is presentedand ready to add documents

• Add a new document to model by adding document no, title and revison

• Drag and drop the file(s) representing the document

• Add a new doc by “New document” if needed

• Press “Complete”

• Press to edit/approve

• Check and press “Approve”

• Sign your approval

• Since SEMI data is not plant-specific, the plant number is set to a default value for all Models.

• The document can be further used as a SAP DMS document in equipment BOMs, linked to SAP Material etc.
