CHECK LIST FOR PROPER SELF-TAPED AUDITION ve great lighting. (Must be able to tell actual skin tone and eye color with no shadows,) The best thing is to use natural light. Make sure you're not shooting TOWARDS a window or the light, but that the natural light is actually lighting YOU! If you don't have natural light, then get some appropriate lighting. You can use lamps if you don't have real lights. Make sure you "white balance" your camera before you start shooting. Most cameras/phones have an auto-white balance. If yours doesn't, check the instructions and figure out how to do it, or ask at a camera/phone department in a retail store. 2) Great sound. (Actor should read with clarity and with equal or more volume than the reader. In other words the reader should not do minate the read.) Eliminate background sounds and static, etc. hould speak with clarity, the reader (off-camera) should never read louder than the reader needs t( t to the camera and be eye level with the actor, at all wader, not into the camera. Unless a casting director requests to see your home and family photos and kitchen appliances, etc_. ALWAYS use a backdrop (can be a tight sheet, material or photography backdrop) OR a plain wall. It can be white, but casting directors prefer blue or gray AND nothing behind you. You want to be the main focus in the video. (5) FRAMING (Have no excess space from top of your head and top of frame. Actor should fill the frame .) No unused space!
