Details on student enrichment programmes (special lectures / workshops / seminar) with external experts. Department has conceptualized a. ‘Kannada Siri – A platform for cultural dialogues’, a multidisciplinary
program to reiterate the democratic and inclusive values. A special time slot is allotted on Thursdays for this program. It adopts innovative methodologies for interaction with the students. Department has also entered into an MOU with ‘Samvaada’, a national level NGO for the purpose.
b. ‘ Kannada Sangha’ (Association of Kannada) promotes pro active Kannada programs . It organizes Intercollegiate poet’s meet, Folk festivals and Special lectures. It is also a publishing wing and has published anthologies of 2 students.
c. ‘Ranga Chiranthana – ‘Theatre Club’ produces and stages plays. Students are trained in all areas of production. It has produced 05 plays and has won many prestigious awards. Refer 5.1.6

English communication skill is the major setback of the student’s growth 2) Department is partially run by visiting lecturers and need one more full time

POST ACCREDITATION INITIATIVES
The institution since reaccreditation is marching ahead to excel in all the fields of curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities with appropriate planning and execution of the same with utmost precision and productivity. The institute which will be soon completing three decades of successful existence has been accredited in 2003 with C++ and subsequently in 2009 with Grade‘B’ with 2.47 CGPA. Keeping in view the observations made by the previous NAAC team and in consonance with the Vision, Mission and Objectives the institution has conceptualized several initiatives during post-accreditation which have been successfully implemented to achieve greater heights.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has taken various quality initiatives which are successfully implemented. IQAC plays an active role in complementing and enhancing the quality of curricular aspects by preparing a comprehensive academic calendar, taking academic audit through result analysis and motivating the departments to introduce Add-on courses. IQAC with its quality intervention has taken initiatives to improve teaching pedagogy by coordinating and conducting various quality enhancing programs. By promoting and funding students research projects and encouraging ICT teaching and learning IQAC has made blended learning a reality. It has taken lead in promoting research ambience in the institution. The cell has taken a proactive role in creating additional infrastructure. With regard to creating meaningful student support systems IQAC is playing a pivotal role. The Cell with its several initiatives supports the administration for transparent, efficient and effective governance. Eco friendly activities of the institution is conceptualized and supported by IQAC initiatives. The Cell supports all the best practices of the institution with the necessary and timely intervention.
INITIATIVES TO ENHANCE INFRASTRUCTURE To accommodate the increasing student strength, introduction of new subjects, combinations, the institution tapped the grants from MPLAD fund, UGC, State Government, for the construction of additional classrooms, ramps, disabled friendly toilet, laboratories, library, staff rooms, and Post Graduation block. Further to support ICT it has established additional AV rooms.

purchase of gym equipments. • The institute has sent proposal to UGC for the construction of additional

INITIATIVES TO INTRODUCE BASIC SCIENCE COMBINATION AT UG LEVEL The introduction of basic science combination viz., PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and CBZ (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) was a real challenge as the strength to these courses is declining. This was successfully addressed by various strategies adopted and the institute is proud to have established these combinations with laboratories, necessary equipments and teaching faculty.
INITIATIVES TO INTRODUCE NEW COMBINATIONS IN HUMANITIES AT UG LEVEL The initiative to introduce new combinations like HEG (History, Economics, Geography), PJCE (Psychology, Journalism, Communicative English) has reached the students who are interested in these combinations. The combination with journalism has enhanced the job opportunities.
INITIATIVES TO INTRODUCE NEW SPECIALISATION IN PG KANNADA AND ESTABLISH RESEARCH CENTER The department of Post-Graduation studies in Kannada has introduced three new specializations as per the demands of students. It has applied for the sanction of Research Center.

INITIATIVES TO EXCEL IN THE FIELD OF RESEARCH As per the previous NAAC Peer Team Report, the institute took the initiative to tap grants for research from UGC; as a result 19 Minor Research Projects were sanctioned. Various discipline centric and multidisciplinary national level conferences, workshops, symposia, both UGC sponsored and self -financed were held which gave the platform to share the research knowledge of participants in the institution. IQAC sponsored student research projects have created a research ambience in the student community.

INITITIATIVES TO ENTER INTO MOU, LINKAGES, COLLABORATIONS Various departments, committees have entered into MOUs, linkages and collaborations. The MOUs has helped to develop employability skills among students and expose them to practical knowledge of their theoretical understanding.
INITIATIVES TO STRENGTHEN ENABLING UNIT FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED-CHETHANA The institute is proud to have a State-of-the–art unit ‘Chethana’ for differently abled which has initiated and strengthened in the last four years to cater to the needs of increasing strength of blind and other physically challenged students. Ramps, special toilets, wheel chair, special sports equipments along with the Braille materials, screen reading software, other necessary equipments have strengthened the capacities of our differently abled students to compete with their peers.
INITIATIVES TO ESTABLISH SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION CELL As per previous PTR, the institute has established Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell following Supreme Court Guidelines. With this the Women Cell is also strengthened.
INITIATIVES TO STRENGTHEN COUNSELLING CELL ‘SUMANA’ With the initiatives of ‘Sumana’ students are given free consultation by counselors and doctors regularly. Tutor ward system through mentoring is also strengthened.
INITIATIVES TO START YOUTH RED CROSS The Youth Red Cross wing is very active in creating an atmosphere with humane values. Its activities like old age home visits, blood donation camps, environment concern, and health camps have made the institute proud.

GREEN INITIATIVES With the establishment of eco club and its activities the students have become aware of the issues related to environment and its conservation. The activities are extended to neighborhood. IQAC, several departments and committees have taken initiatives to make campus green and environment friendly, like herbal garden, reduction of usage of plastic, rain water harvesting structures, mapping the flora of the college, enhancing the biodiversity of the college, celebrating Green Week, segregation of waste and composting.
INITIATIVES TO STRENGTHEN PLACEMENT CELL AND TO CONDUCT JOB MELA With the initiatives of the placement cell various programs are conducted to increase skills among students. The initiative of this proactive cell has resulted in JOB MELA which was conducted on 31/03/2015. Several campus recruitment drives were also conducted.
INITIATIVES TO ENHANCE INSTITUTIONAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The extension activities of the institution, the student projects, surveys, few MRPs of faculties, activities of NSS, YRC showcase the ISR.
INITIATIVES TO MOTIVATE ALUMNI Special initiatives are taken to motivate Alumni to support differently abled students. Alumni are motivated to support and encourage their junior peers.
INITIATIVES TO PROVIDE INTERNET ACCESS TO ALL DEPARTMENTS With the initiatives of IQAC all the departments are provided with computer and internet facility.
