SEISMIC JOINT CLIP
The Armstrong Seismic JointClip Main Beam (SJMR)works with Armstrong 15/16"Prelude grid system and 9/16"Suprafine grid system.

IBC mandates that ceiling areasgreater than 2500 sf must haveseismic separation joints
Armstrong conducted full-scaletesting at the State University ofNew York, University at Buffalo, which provides evidence ofperformance in IBC CategoryD, E, and F installations
SJMR15 and SJMR9 give archi-tects and designers a clean look, and save contractors time witha reliable installation method
Easily installs in minutes at themain beam splice
Maintains integrity of the ceilingmodule, unlike field assembledalternatives
Allows for a full acoustical panelat the joint
Not visible from the floor
Lower material costs than manyother alternative methods
Easier to keep the ceilingsystem square

Its simple to install with these easy steps:
How to install the SeismicJoint Clip Main Beam.
Step 1: Determine which splices will receivethe separation joint by dividing the total areainto sections not greater than 2500 sf. Attacha hanger wire within 3"of the splice that willreceive the clip.
Step 2: Install complete grid system. Followtypical procedures except that all main beamsplices must line up across the space.
Step 3: Prepare the main beam splice toreceive the separation joint clip by cutting thelocking tab from the left side of the connectionand removing "from the end of the beamon the right.
Step 4: Install the clip using the screwsprovided. Screws #1 and #2 install throughthe holes in the clip and into the right handmain beam.
Step 5: Align the indexing nib with the lowerhole on the left hand main and insert screws#3 & 4 into the upper holes.
Step 6: Snap the ES4 or ES49 expansionsleeve over the gap at the face of the mainbeam and crimp the four corners with a pairof pliers.
Step 7: Install SJCG cross tee separation jointclips at one end of every cross tee that spansthe area of main beam separation. Followinstructions found on the SJCG data page(CS-3815).
