Dear Parents/Carers,

We have reached the last week of Term 3. It has definitely been a busy term with lots of great learning and exciting extra-curricular activities for our students. The excitement continues this week with our annual Athletics Carnival taking place on Thursday 27 September at Jim Ring Reserve, Birrong. All K-2 students will be walking to and from Jim Ring Reserve in Birrong with their teachers to participate in a range of races and fun field events. The action will be taking place on Field 4 of Jim Ring Reserve, Gascoigne Road, Birrong. Students need to wear suitable sports clothes in their team colours as well as a hat and running shoes. A sturdy bag with a healthy lunch, recess and plenty of water also needs to be brought to school on the day. Please don’t forget to apply sunscreen before coming to school as well. Normal school hours will occur on the day with the fun events starting at approximately 9:30am and finishing at 1pm at the reserve. The students will then walk back to school to resume afternoon lessons. All parents, family members and friends are invited to come along to cheer for our students.

Kindergarten Blue created a wonderful shop in their classroom to develop their numeracy and literacy skills.

Thank you to our staff, students and school community for another wonderful term at Sefton Infants School. I hope that you all have a lovely, well-earned spring break. Term 4 starts for all students on Monday 15 October 2018.

Our SkoolBag app will soon be upgrading. How will you be upgraded?

All users that are using the SkoolBag single app (Android and iOS) will receive the automatic upgrade. After upgrading, you will need to log in again using your free SkoolBag account.

It is very important that you log in again so that you can access all the features of SkoolBag.

Sefton Infants School uses Skoolbag as an efficient means of communicating school happenings to our school community. It is also a way for our parents to send messages to the school. We encourage all of our families and interested community members to download this free app.

Book Week Winners

Congratulations to the following Sefton Infants students who recently won prizes for their entries in the Canterbury Bankstown Library Book Week competitions: Ely Tran - Guessing Competition Rital Salim - Year 2 Writing Mus’ab El Kheir - Year 1 Writing Yahya Khan - Year 1 Writing Malak Marhaba - Year 2 Writing Fatimah Fahme - Year 2 Writing Each of these students received a prize winner’s book, as well as an audio book and two free tickets to Canterbury Bankstown holiday activities. Well done!

School Photos

All students from Preschool to Year 2 will be involved in school photographs on Wednesday 31 October. Whole school, class and individual photos will be taken by visiting professional photographers. Information about the costing of photos will be distributed after the school holidays. If you would like to order any photographs, please complete the order form on the envelope which will be distributed as soon as we return from the spring school holidays, enclose the exact payment required and return to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 31 October. If you would like to order a family photo for siblings who attend Sefton Infants School and Preschool, please visit the school office to obtain a special order form. It is vital that all K-2 students wear full summer uniform on the day of the photographs. This full uniform includes a red short-sleeved polo shirt, navy blue shorts or culottes (for girls), navy blue socks and black school shoes. Many families, as well as the school, purchase photos and want the photos and the school to be represented at its best. Therefore, it is very important for students to be extra neat and tidy in their school uniform on the day. There will not be any sport lessons on this day. Thank you for your support.

Paint Bankstown REaD

Recently our Kindergarten students participated in a great community event called Paint Bankstown REaD. The students had a great time. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in literacy activities with a host of local community agencies. A big thank you to Chester Hill Neighbourhood Centre for organising such a great community event to foster reading and literacy.
