•Watermelons start from a small small seed. They grow into a big watermelon. The watermelon can be used for cooking, eating, and our enjoyment. Watermelon seeds can be dispersed through many of ways including animals, and people. Half of the joy of eating watermelon is being able to spit the seeds out. That is one way that we disperse the seeds. •Animals sometimes eat the seeds and when they excrete the seed has traveled and can be planted into the ground.

Orange Dispersing of Seeds:

•Oranges are found all over in Florida. They grow on orange trees. Oranges are very yummy and can be sticky. Oranges have to be peeled before being eaten. But it is worth the work. We have to spit the seeds out and once again we have dispersed the seeds. •Birds also enjoy eating the seeds. When the birds fly they can drop a seed here and there spreading the seeds.

Dandelion Dispersing of Seeds:

• Dandelion’s are so much fun to blow. But did you know that when we blow the Dandelion we are actually spreading the seeds. The seeds are wing like and they can float far away from the mother Dandelion.

• Dandelion’s seeds are also spread through the wind blowing. When the wind blows the seeds fly of the plant and find a new home.

• Sandspurs are anything but fun. They hurt and can travel in many ways. When we step on a sandspur it hurts really bad! We actually carry the sandspur farther away from the mother plant and plant it somewhere else. Sometimes we don’t even realize the sandspur is on us because they are thorny and can attach themselves to our shoes and clothing.

• Sandspurs also can travel on animals. For example when we take our pets to the beach they can brush up against a sandspur and the sandspur attaches to their fur and travels with them until is falls off.

• Another way that sandspur seeds can be dispersed are through the wind. The wind on the beach tends to blow harder and the sandspurs can travel miles through the wind.

Magnolia TreesDispersing of Seeds:

• Magnolia Trees are very fun to climb on and swing from. They also house birds, squirrels, and other animals. Animals are very helpful for dispersing the seeds. Birds fly and drop them all around in different places. Squirrels eat the and when they excrete them it could be in another backyard.

• Magnolia seeds are also dispersed when the wind blows. The seeds can travel miles away in air travel.

• I don’t like peas personally but birds loves them. They can travel with them easily than other vegetables. Birds help disperse the pea pod seeds.

• When pea plants are harvested and transported peas can be lost on the way dispersing the seeds to a new area.

• Peas on farms can be dispersed by getting stuck in the tractor tires and not breaking free until the hit solid dirt.

Oak TreeDispersing of Seeds:

• Oak trees are so big and fun to climb. There acorns are also cool to. The oak tree in the picture was probably at least 500 years old but yet it started from a tiny acorn. Acorn seeds are dispersed in many way for instance squirrels bury them during the winter so sometimes they forget and the seed can start to develop.

• Acorns also fall on the ground and sometimes when animals dig the dirt covers them and they can begin growing too.

• Also, acorns fall on cars parked in our drive way so when you turn you can hear the acorns tumbling off so we actually dispersed them, not purposely.

• Pecans can be dispersed through many ways. Birds eat them and excrete the.

• Pecans can also be dispersed through picking them. Of course you will miss one and leave in on the dirt. After time though that pecan may take root and grow.
