Goal: To find the volume of a solid of revolution using the disc method.
Definition: If a region in the plane is revolved about a line, then the resulting solid is called a solid of revolution.

The idea is to fill the solid of revolution with n discs. You can find the volume of each disc and sum to estimate the volume of the solid, or, better yet, use an integral to find the exact volume.

Note: The disc method only allows us to find the volume of a solid having a circular cross section. However, we can generalize the disc method as long as we know a formula for the area of an arbitrary cross section as follows:
