E. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of shade cloth options and aluminum finish color samples representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

F. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of shade components, unassembled, demonstrating compliance with specified requirements. Shade fabric sample and aluminum finish sample as selected, representing actual product, color, and patterns. Mark face of material to indicate interior faces.

G. Maintenance Data: Methods for maintaining roller shades, precautions regarding cleaning materials and methods, instructions for operating hardware and controls.

H. Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Obtain roller shades through one source from a single manufacturer with a minimum of twenty years experience in manufacturing products comparable to those specified in this section.

B. NFPA Flame-Test: Passes NFPA 701. Materials tested shall be identical to products proposed for use.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Do not deliver window shades until building is enclosed and construction within spaces where shades will be installed is substantially complete.

B. Deliver products in manufacturer's original, unopened, undamaged containers with labels intact.

C. Label containers and shades according to Window Shade Schedule.

D. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

1.7 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that locating templates and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

B. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Install roller shades after finish work and ambient temperature, humidity and ventilation conditions are maintained at levels recommended for project upon completion.

1.9 WARRANTY

2.2 MANUALLY OPERATED WINDOW SHADES

A. Manually Operated Window Shades with Independent Control: Manually operated, vertical roll-up, fabric window shade with components necessary for complete installation; Manual FlexShade XD as manufactured by Draper, Inc. 1. Operation: Bead chain and clutch operating mechanism allowing shade to stop when

chain is released. Designed never to need adjustment or lubrication. Provide limit stops to prevent shade from being raised or lowered too far. a. Clutch mechanism: Fabricated from POM thermoplastic with welded 0.354 inch

(9 mm) primary steel post with rotational bearing, overrunning design, and positive mechanical engagement of drive mechanism to tube. White or Black color as selected by Architect. Center bead chain placement for right or left hand operation and accommodates side channel with no adjustment of chain location.

b. Bead chain loop: Stainless steel bead chain. c. Bead Chain Hold Down: P-Clip.

2. Rollers: Extruded aluminum roller tube of appropriate diameter to support shade fabric with minimal deflection. a. Minimum Roller Tube Diameter: 1.56 inches (40 mm). b. Fabric Connection to Roller Tube: Spline fabric/roller attachment system to

allow shade fabric to be removed from roller without having to remove roller from brackets.

c. Fabric Length: 6 inches (152 mm) greater than window height minimum. d. Bottom Slat: 13/16 inch (20.6 mm) aluminum dowel, encased in bottom hem

with heat sealed ends. e. Orientation: Regular from back of roller.

selected by manufacturer to accommodate shade size. Provide with roller idler assembly of molded nylon and zinc-plated steel pin. Sliding pin to allow easy installation and removal of roller. Fabric connected to the roller tube with LSE (low surface energy) double sided adhesive specifically developed to attach coated textiles to metal. Adhesive attachment to eliminate horizontal impressions in fabric.

D. Endcaps: Stamped steel with universal design suitable for mounting to ceiling, wall, and jamb. Provide size compatible with roller size.

E. Endcap covers to match fascia/headbox finish.

F. Coupling system: Couplings to join motorized shade rollers to allow operation by single motor. FlexShade Coupling System as manufactured by Draper, Inc. Provide endcaps to receive couplers and support multiple shades.

G. Shade slat: Slat encased in heat-seamed hem.

2.4 SKYLIGHT SHADES

A. Type: Electrically operated, horizontal, roll-up, fabric, skylight shade; Skylight FlexShade System as manufactured by Draper, Inc.

B. Method of installation: Mounted inside of skylight opening and extending from wall to wall

C. Shade Motor and Control System

1. Radio Technology Motor- 110 VAC motor with built-in radio receiver. Tubular motor concealed inside each shade roller tube. a. Individual Control, Group Control and Individual and Group Control:

1) Four channel wireless handheld transmitter-Black. 2) 16-Channel wireless handheld transmitter-White. 3) Four channel wireless wall switch for radio motor control-White.

D. Rollers:

1. Motorized roller: 2 inches 50 mm diameter extruded aluminum.

2. Take-up roller: 1-3/4 inches 44 mm diameter galvanized steel roller with heavy-duty spring. Equip with take-up reels to ensure take-up cable remains in alignment.

3. Provide with roller idler assembly of injection molded plastic containing a spring-loaded steel pin for easy installation and removal of roller.

E. Endcaps: Stamped steel with roller adapter and designed for mounting enclosure and receiving fabric guides.

F. Enclosures: Fabricated from 0.06 inch 1.59 mm thick extruded aluminum sections with endcaps and opacity plates.

1. Size: 3-1/2 inches 89 mm] high by 4 inches 102 mm wide by length required for shade being provided.

2. L-shaped removable front and top cover and L-shaped removable back and bottom.

G. Side Support Flanges: Consist of two sections. One section contains grooves for the fabric guide, and a groove for the glide strip. The second section contains the flange/endcap locators. Outside mounts require plastic cover buttons.

H. Flange/endcap locator: Type 6 injection molded nylon. (Aligns side support flange and endcap.)

I. Slat bar: Provides an attachment point for the shade fabric and for the cable idler bearings. The idler bearings provide self-adjusting equalization of the cable tension at each end of the slat bar.

J. Take-up cable: 3/64” stainless steel, nylon coated, with a minimum breaking strength of 220 lbs.100 kg; never visible during operation.

K. Fabric guide: Plated steel transition for fabric rolling into side support flange.

L. Fabric Support System: Horizontal steel stays are installed at regular intervals and covered. This system enables the shade to withstand reasonable air pressure differentials and gravity. Please note: extreme air currents or physical interference may cause product failure.

M. Opacity plates: Steel plates with rubber O rings installed on endcaps to eliminate light leakage.

N. Exposed aluminum finish: Clear anodized, Black, White, Ivory, Charcoal bronze baked enamel paint.

2.4 FABRIC

A. Light-Filtering Fabrics 1. SheerWeave Series SW2500 by Phifer: VOC Emissions: GREENGUARD Children &

Schools -certified as a low emitting fabric. Manufacturer to supply GREENGUARD Children & Schools certificate. 500 denier fiberglass, vinyl coated and woven into a 2 x 2 basket weave. Fire rating: NFPA 701. Bacteria and Fungal Resistance: ASTM G 21 and ASTM G 22. Series SW2500, 1 percent open, .024 inches thick.

2. SheerWeave Series SW2400 by Phifer: VOC Emissions: GREENGUARD Children & Schools -certified as a low emitting fabric. Manufacturer to supply GREENGUARD Children & Schools certificate. 500 denier fiberglass, vinyl coated and woven into a 2 x 2 basket weave. Fire rating: NFPA 701. 3. Series SW2701 SheerWeave: Duplex basketweave fabric-light exterior color combined with dark interior color for thermal comfort and view-through. GREENGUARD Children & Schools certified as a low emitting fabric. Manufacturer to supply GREENGUARD Children & Schools certificate. Fire rating: NFPA 701. SW2701-.1 percent open.

4. Series SW2703 SheerWeave: Duplex basketweave fabric-light exterior color combined with dark interior color for thermal comfort and view-through. GREENGUARD Children & Schools certified as a low emitting fabric. Manufacturer to supply GREENGUARD Children & Schools certificate. Fire rating: NFPA 701. SW2703-3 percent open.

B. Room Darkening Fabrics 1. SunBloc Series SB9100: Close woven fiberglass base textile with sun-resistant vinyl

film bonded to each side, opaque with minimum tensile strength of 190 pounds for warp and 180 pounds for fill. Fire rating: NFPA 701 1006-Test 1. Washable and stain resistant. Wt. 12 oz/sq yd. White exterior in all colors, .013 inches thick.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Coordinate requirements for blocking and structural supports to ensure adequate means for installation of window shades.

B. Coordinate requirements for power supply conduit, and wiring required for window shade motors and controls.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Install roller shades level, plumb, square, and true. Allow proper clearances for window operation hardware.

C. Install the following items to conceal roller and operating mechanism. Do not use exposed fasteners. 1. Fascias.

3.4 TESTING AND DEMONSTRATION

A. Test motorized window shades to verify that controls, limit switches, interface to other building systems, and other operating components are functional. Correct deficiencies.

B. Test window shades to verify that operating mechanism, fabric retainer, and other operating components are functional. Correct deficiencies. 1. Chain and clutch. 2. Motorized Shades 3. Skylight Shades

C. Demonstrate operation of shades to Owner's designated representatives.

3.5 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
