Overview

This section provides tools for the user to work on the Nodes and Elements.

Following tasks can be performed over a FEM model.

Create / Delete orphan node

Move Nodes to other locations

Modify elements (Lower order to higher order and vice versa)

Renumbering Nodes / Elements

Transferring Loads and Boundary conditions to other bodies

Assigning Nodes to Local coordinates

Exporting Nodes and Elements

Removing thread & Logos

Creating Ribs

Modify Features (Rib/Cylinders)

FEM Modeling Node tool

Create - To create orphan nodes.

Move - To Move nodes from one location to another location.

Equivalence - To equivalence nodes in the bodies.

Show Nodes - To show free/shared nodes within the given tolerance.

Delete Orphan - To delete orphan nodes.

Transfer Nodes - To transfer orphan nodes from one model to another model.

Separate nodes - To separate the shared nodes.

FEM Modeling Element tool

To Modify the elements from lower order to higher order. Element

conversion from Tri to Quad, Quad to Tri and Wedge to Tet is supported.

To Remove duplicate solid elements.

Other Tools are similar to the ones available in mesh clean up.

Renumber

Elements and Nodes in a model can be renumbered.

Corner, Mid, and Internal Nodes can be numbered using separate range.

Each Element type can also be numbered using separate range.

Transfer ID’s

To set Node Ids from one body to another using proximity.

Property can also be transferred.

Transfer Loads / Properties

The loads and boundary conditions of a body can be transferred to the newly

altered body that has any design or mesh changes.

LBC and automation object gets transferred using Persistent ID, Cad ID, and

Distance.

Replace Body

To replace an existing body in the assembly by a new body having design/mesh

changes. Loads, Boundary conditions and Property are preserved.

Mapping is done using persistent ID.

Export Nodes / Elements

Nodes and Elements in a face can be exported in the following formats.

CSV (Text File)

BDF (Bulk Data Format)

INP (ABAQUS Input File Format)

CSV format has support to export nodes and surface elements.

BDF and INP format has support to export the surface and solid elements.

Assign LCS

Nodes can be assigned to a Local Coordinate System.

Input can either be body/face/edge/vertex/element/node.

Thread Removal

The thread face in the bolt holes can be removed using this option. This works on meshed bodies only.

Logo Removal

Unwanted Logos, Numbers, Letters embossed on a meshed body can be removed

easily using this tool.
