NCR to supply Web-enabled ATMs for 7-Eleven

DAYTON, OH, and DALLAS, TX. NCR has been selected by 7-Eleven in a deal that will see the convenience retailer's customers using NCR self-service solutions to access a range of financial services and e-commerce applications in 7-Eleven stores. Using NCR ATM-based kiosks with touch-screen Internet access, customers in over more than 200 7-Eleven stores throughout in the Dallas/Fort Worth area will be able to cash checks, purchase money orders, and send and receive wire transfers funds, in addition to traditional ATM transactions. 7-Eleven has partnered with American Express for this initial rollout of the kiosks. Future plans call for expanding the services available through the in-store kiosks to include event ticketing and online shopping. "The development of our V.com kiosk represents an extension of our long-standing relationship with NCR as an equipment provider to 7-Eleven and will facilitate our e-commerce strategy," said Rick Updyke, vice president of planning for 7-Eleven. "Distribution is the biggest challenge for e-commerce companies, and 7-Eleven is well positioned to leverage our existing physical locations, daily delivery infrastructure and state-of-the-art retail information system. When combined with the V.com kiosks, the result is final-mile unique solution for online shopping and fulfillment." At the heart of the web ATMs will be NCR's APTRA software, which allows 7-Eleven customers to access the financial services and information using standard Internet technology. "This is a perfect fit with 7-Eleven's Internet strategy," said Andy Orent, vice president of NCR's ATM Solutions Group. "With NCR's self-service terminal, powered with APTRA software, 7-Eleven customers have the convenience of cashing paychecks and accessing other financial services, 24 hours a day."
