To advance progress on Entrance 1 (Northeast corner of 69th Street and Second Avenue) the contractor will need to implement a new pedestrian walkway between 69th and 70th Streets on the east side of Second Avenue. This new walkway configuration will relocate pedestrians into the street, behind barriers, and may go in to effect as early as this month. 72nd Street Station - Entrance 1 at 69th Street and Second Avenue.

The future 72nd Street Station will have three new entrances including 11 escalators, and five street-level ADA accessible elevators at the southeast corner of 72nd Street and Second Avenue. Work in this area included construction of the station cavern and tunnels from the 72nd Street Station to the existing Lexington Av/63rd Street Station. This contract included the demolition of the buildings for ancillary locations at 72nd Street and 69th Street, and required utility relocation for the installation of support of excavation walls. The completion date of this contract was April 2014.

The follow-on contractor has taken over all work zones and will complete the mezzanine, platform, ancillary structures, station entrances, and the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the station. The estimated completion date of this contract is 2nd quarter 2016.

MONDAY-FRIDAY: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

SATURDAY: 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (as needed)

Work is permitted underground 24 hours.
