What Is Seaweek?Seaweek is a week when New Zealand focuses on learning from
the sea.
The theme for 2017 is “Toiora te Moana – Toiora te Tangata – Healthy Seas, Healthy
People”.
Seaweek is coordinated by the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE).

Our Ocean and SeaNew Zealand is in the south-west Pacific Ocean and the Tasman
Sea.
Why Is the Sea Important?Seas help people by helping to control the climate (weather,
temperature).
Seas provide water for plants and animals.
Seas give us food.
Seas give us energy – oil and gas.
Seas help us with transport – shipping goods.
Seas are a fun place for us to play and learn.
Seas are an important habitat for animals.
How Can We Look after the Sea?Reduce, reuse and
